The new AEW International Champion, Kenny Omega, gave a pointless promo. While it is fantastic to have him back, the promo was him saying how thankful he was to be back after the injury.
Tag Action On AEW Dynamite
The Opps versus three men already in the ring for the first match. The Opps doesn’t feel like the type of faction to need squash matches, but none the less.
Hologram and Powerhouse Hobbs teamed up to take on Brian Cage and Dralistico in tag action. Everyone got their moment to shine; the big guys muscled while the high-flyers flew. Hobbs would get the pinfall finish for his team.
Championship Storylines On AEW Dynamite
After her bloody and successful title defense last weekend, Toni Storm came to the top of the ramp for a promo. This also felt empty, it did not tell us anything. It was all a set-up for Megan Bayne to blindside her.
The Beast Mortos and Mike Bailey met in the first round of the International Championship eliminator tournament. Bailey, making his AEW debut, showed off his high-flying abilities, which paired well with Mortos’ strength. Numerous believable false finishes were added to the match. Bailey would get the win to advance in the tournament.
Surprise Appearances On AEW Dynamite
After losing to Adam Page on Sunday, MJF attempted to talk his way out of accountability with an in-ring promo. MVP unexpectedly interrupted the promo and made his way to the ring. After a surprise hug and explaining their history, MVP addresses MJF. He said he’s gone soft, and he needs to start hurting people. MVP then slipped MJF a card, seemingly inviting him to join The Hurt Syndicate.
Willow Nightingale against Penelope Ford was the next match. It was evident that Ford was not on the same level as Nightingale. They attempted false finishes, but they were not believable. Nightingale was victorious before Ford attacked her with a chair. Attacked is a strong word for how soft she was with it. Kris Statlander saved Willow but was then jumped by Megan Bayne.
More Championship Storylines On AEW Dynamite
Tony Schiavone called Will Ospreay to the ring for a promo. Ospreay is fresh off a violent steel cage with Kyle Fletcher at Revolution. Ospreay, not known for his promos, took way too long to reminisce about the match. Ospreay eventually got around to “What’s next for Ospreay?” He explained his desire to be the AEW World Champion, and is coming for Moxley after he wins the upcoming Owen Hart Tournament.
Hechicero and Orange Cassidy had a match in the first round of the International Championship eliminator tournament. This may have been entertaining if you are still a fan of Orange Cassidy doing things with his hands in his pockets. With an assumption of Orange winning ahead of time and making sure to get his spots in, this was not the best main event. Hechicero displayed some talent with slick reversals and submissions. It’s rare to see a submission-focused luchador, and Cassidy’s spots do take athleticism. Cassidy advances in the tournament.
