The Southern Conference Championship Game is upon us and the teams the #6 seed Wofford Terriers (18-15, 10-8 SoCon) and its rival #5 Furman Paladins (25-8, 11-7 SoCon) in Asheville N.C. The Furman Paladins got here by beating #4 Samford Bulldogs Saturday night, #1 UT Chattanooga Mocs Sunday, while Wofford beat #3 ETSU Bucs Saturday, and #7 VMI Keydets on Sunday night.

Wofford would jump out fast on the Paladins who commit huge turnovers which lead to a 13-5 lead for Wofford with 13 minutes left in the first half. When we get to the media timeout its 15-5 Terriers leading the Paladins as Coach Richey has to get his team calmed down and back to playing controlled basketball as Wofford has got many turnovers.

The Paladins have come alive and with 2 minutes left is only down one 32-31 as the fans are really getting into this game. Wofford hits a huge 3 pointer with 1:49 left in the half and Furman takes a timeout. Halftime stats will be coming soon as this has been a huge game of emotion on both sides. Furman takes the lead for the first time with one minute to go 37-35 when Charles Johnston gets a huge three after a huge defensive rebound on the other side. Wofford takes the final shot but its blocked and Furman heads into halftime with a 39-37 lead after a sluggish start.

The teams come out of halftime shooting 3 pointers on both ends as Furman is getting Wofford in foul trouble with fouls to PJay Smith getting 3 free throws after huge fouls keeping Wofford on edge. The first media timeout finds Furman leading 52-48. The Terriers are up 77-71 with six minutes left in the game, and Furman needs to get back on the board and close the lead and Garrett Hien hits a huge three and its 77-74 with just over 5 minutes left in the game.

The game is 79-78 after a media timeout and Furman is showing its GRIT as we have just over 3 minutes left in the game, and Wofford is holding on to its lead as best it can. PJay Smith with 3 minutes left gets the score and Furman is up and with a steal Furman goes down and hits a three pointer and now its 83-79 Paladins! Wofford doesn’t back down and gets the lead back with just over a minute left 84-83. We have 53 seconds left in this game and the crowd has been great here in Asheville, Wofford with 17 seconds left has pretty much won this game 92-55 with 11 seconds left in the game.
