These are the AEW Double or Nothing results that wrapped up Sunday night in Queens. With so much on the line, who would walk out with a title, or at all, for that matter? This also dives into prediction results.
FTR (c) vs. Cage and Cope – “I Quit” match for AEW World Tag Team Championship: If Cage and Cope lose, they must retire as a tag team
Christian Cage started the hardcore antics. At the price of his own hands, he wrapped a rope in barbed wire to inflict damage. It wasn’t much longer before Adam Copeland was using a belt as a weapon, before breaking out the ladders and chairs. FTR did fight back, including a spike-piledriver through the announce desk. The finish had Cage holding Dax Harwood in a Boston Crab, while Copeland drilled nails into his head until he quit. That’s 1-0 on predictions.
Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita – Singles match for the AEW International Championship
This one started with a relatively lengthy slow period, with a lackadaisical demeanor. Perhaps they had time to fill, because things eventually ramped up. The strikes started to land, the reversals were happening, and the unique move sets were on display. The wait was worth it, with some of the best false finishes one will see. “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita picked up the victory (2-0-).
There was an awkward moment between Takeshita and the rest of The Don Callis Family, which is when “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher made his surprise return from injury. It seemed the new champion and the returning star may be turning babyface, and perhaps without the faction. This, however, was the moment Fletcher showed his true intentions.
Fletcher laid out Takeshita, and The Don Callis Family rejoined him. The punishment continued, including a skull-shot with the title.
Athena vs. Mina Shirakawa – Women’s Owen Hart Cup Quarterfinal
Both ROH Women’s World Champion “The Fallen Goddess” Athena and Mira Shirakawa had moments to shine. Athena’s strength and intensity were the big differences between the two. The ROH Women’s Champion advances in the Owen (3-0).
Jon Moxley (c) vs. Kyle O’Reilly – Singles match for the AEW Continental Championship
After having AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley’s number on television, they’d work a knee injury on the Kyle O’Reilly early. The match itself had great mat and chain wrestling, while also still bringing physicality. The work injury played through, as O’Reilly was forced to tap for the finish. 4-0 on the predictions.
Samoa Joe vs. Will Ospreay – Men’s Owen Hart Cup Quarterfinal
“The Ariel Assassin” Will Ospreay hit Samoa Joe with a cutter during his entrance, but it just appeared to make him mad as the bell rang. Joe focused on the surgically repaired neck while delivering vicious power moves, but it wasn’t enough. Ospreay advances in the Owen, and that’s 5-0 on the predictions.
Bandido vs. Swerve Strickland – Men’s Owen Hart Cup Quarterfinal AEW Double Or Nothing Results
It was clear they were out for unique spots in this match, including a House Call while Swerve Strickland was on Bandido’s shoulders, who worked in plenty of high spots as well. Both guys also had reversals that could never be improved. Strickland ultimately hit another House Call to pick up the win. 5-0 on predictions.
Thekla (c) vs. Hikaru Shida vs. Jamie Hayter vs. Kris Statlander – Four-way match for the AEW Women’s World Championship
The show lost some momentum with this one. It wasn’t a mess, but it just felt like they were taking turns working in their spots. Furthermore, there’s nothing wrong with working safely, but there were way too many airballs in this one. Thekla retains, and the predictions move to 6-0.
Jericho, The Hurt Syndicate, and The Elite vs. The Demand, The Don Callis Family, and The Dogs – Stadium Stampede match
This match started with everyone pairing off for brawls in the ring. There was chaos everywhere for a long time, yet nothing exciting or noteworthy. It was also packed with cheesy high points and choreographed, synchronized segments. It was more comical than anything. Jericho picked up the pinfall for his team, making the prediction record 6-0.
Darby Allin (c) vs. MJF Title vs. Hair match for the AEW World Championship AEW Double Or Nothing Results
It may have been basic and straightforward leading to the spot, but AEW World Heavyweight Champion Darby Allin delivered the high spot of the night. Climbing the height of the jumbotron, Allin hit a massive Coffin Drop through MJF on a table, slicing up the back of his own skull on the landing. Despite taking the move, MJF was in better shape afterward. MJF hit an avalanche tombstone to pick up the pinfall and become a three-time AEW World Heavyweight Champion (7-0 in predictions). “The Jet” Kevin Knight came to aid his friend who lost the title, only to turn heel on him.
