AEW Revolution is this Sunday from the crypto.com arena in Los Angeles. Tons of great matches on the card, let’s get to the predictions.
Continental Championship – Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Brody King
This one is going to be stiff. Expect great striking and power. For a prediction, as great as he is, Brody King has not been in the singles picture much. With a story lacking depth, expect the champion to retain, and expect them both to leave it all in the ring.
Steel Cage match – Will Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher
These are two of the best talents in the world, and they know each other well. Expect great pace and reversals. Ospreay is the bigger star, but they both know that. Being close friends, Ospreay may want to put his friend over. Fletcher is also part of The Don Callis Family, which could help Ospreay look better in the loss.
Singles match – MJF vs. “Hangman” Adam Page
These two have been going at each other for weeks, making it one of the deeper storylines on the card. MJF gets the edge on the mic, while Hangman gets the edge once the bell rings. That being said, MJF always finds a greasy way to win, and that’s the prediction for this one.
Winner gets world title shot – Swerve Strickland vs. Ricochet
Using his new gimmick to cover up his lack of mic skills, this is the best booking Ricochet has seen in some time. This will be one to tune in for. They both have proven their wrestling skills along with a deathmatch style. They also know each other so well. Prince Puma versus Killshot, anyone? Swerve may be bleeding, but expect him to be victorious and to get a shot at the title that was once his.
TBS Championship – Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Momo Watanabe
There is little to no story here. Moné has made the TBS Championship irrelevant, using her fame and pull to get more creative control than any other female. Watanabe is rarely on television, and that would be terrible booking. Moné wins an average match.
AEW World Tag Team Championship – The Hurt Syndicate (c) vs. The Outrunners
The Outrunners continue to get a push, despite a lack of fan interest. On the other hand, The Hurt Syndicate is over with its audience and always gets a pop and a chant. The Hurt Syndicate should handle this quickly. One should expect an underwhelming championship match.
Falls Count Anywhere match for AEW Women’s World Championship – “Timeless” Toni Storm (c) vs. Mariah May
While they have proven their willingness to bleed, this storyline has gone ice cold. Neither have advanced their characters or gimmick, and the matches have been average. This is admittedly one of the more difficult predictions of the card, but it would make sense for Toni to retain and find a new storyline.
AEW International Championship – Konosuke Takeshita (c) vs. Kenny Omega
This match has all the potential in the world. They are two top talents and have great ring IQ. Omega will likely shine in his pace and high spots, and Takeshita is a great combination of brute strength and perfect technicality. This may be too deep of a cut, but if The Don Callis Family aids Kyle Fletcher to victory earlier in the night, Will Ospreay will want revenge. He has also tagged along with Omega lately. Kenny Omega will be the new International Champion.
World Championship – Jon Moxley (c) vs. Cope
This one is difficult to call as well. Jon Moxley and The Deathriders have been wreaking havoc for weeks, but there’s a crack forming in the faction. Cope has looked good in tag actions leading up, but also dropped an interesting tidbit on Dynamite. Cope seemingly got to Wheeler Yuta, who has been teased out of The Deathriders. Cope could have been promised a world title when he came from WWE. With the help of Yuta, Cope is your new World Champion.
