Dynamite opened this week Orange Cassidy versus Adam Page—good back-and-forth with great intensity and believable false finishes. Hangman would go on to win the match, but then hit Cassidy with a Dead Eye piledriver after the bell. Hangman would even hit Christopher Daniels when he tried to intervene.
AEW Dynamite Matches
The next match would see The Acclaimed versus The Hurt Syndicate in tag-team action. Bobby Lashley would win via submission after a fairly short match. It also appears they are teasing the split of The Acclaimed at some point down the road.
Next up, Jamie Hayter versus the returning Julia Hart. Hart would win after spraying a black mist while the referee was distracted.
Championship Storylines
Mercedes Mone would be in the ring for a promo in advance of her match this weekend against Mina Shirakawa for her New Japan Strong Women’s Championship. It any lacked real substance out of a video package of Mone highlights.
The next match would determine the number one spot in the Casino Gauntlet Match, a triple-threat between Jay White, Roderick Strong, and Swerve Strickland. Great match from the start with stiff striking and athleticism. During the match, Ricochet would take the opportunity to attack Strickland with scissors. White would then take that opportunity to hit Strong with Bladerunner for the win. The camera would cut to Strickland after the match, who was bleeding from the head. Prince Nana would try to help, but would get thrown into steel steps by Ricochet. Swerve did Ricochet a huge favor here, as this is a great new looks for Ricochet, and it drew some serious heel-heat from the crowd.
Jeff Jarrett would come to the ring to cut a promo. He would reminisce over his life before hinting retirement. It would be a misdirection, as he announced he just renewed his contract for the last time. Jarrett would announce himself in the Casino Gauntlet Match with his eye on the World Championship.
Main Event
The Dynamite main event was a trios match between Deathriders and Rated FTR. Deathriders had control early to lead into commercial break. After break, things would break down outside the ring and into the crowd. Moxley would set up Cope on the announce desk for a piledriver when Jay White would appear out of nowhere to take out Wheeler Yuta in the ring. Cope would then reverse Moxley on the table and Rated FTR would go on to win the match.
