AEW Dynamite started this week with Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega coming to the ring for a promo with Tony Schiavone. Ospreay asked for this time to explain how he needs Omega’s help to fix AEW, to get past The Don Callis Family, and to get the title out of Jon Moxley’s briefcase. Omega will never trust Will Ospreay.
The Don Callis Family jumped Omega, and after a brief hesitation, Ospreay decided to help Omega. The brawl spread into the crowd and concession area. They had a symbolic segment where Ospreay and Omega would team up to put Archer through a table.
Will Ospreay would top off the segment with a massive high-spot, off a railing for the crowd, down to the floor. Omega and Ospreay would grab a mic to team up and challenge Takeshita and Fletcher at an upcoming event.
AEW Championship Storylines
The Hurt Syndicate challenged Private Party for the AEW World Tag Team Championship, and we’re in control early, including the steel steps and announce table in the carnage. Private Party had little time on offense, and The Hurt Syndicate are the new AEW World Tag Team Champions. It’s unfortunate to see the titles dropped in such a one-sided affair.
Jeff Jarrett cut an aimless hometown promo before stumbling over his name. He took some jabs at MJF before calling Jon Moxley to the ring. Instead of Moxley, Jarrett got a European uppercut from Claudio Castagnoli. Nobody gets to Moxley without dealing with Castagnoli, and the two face-off next week, with a title shot on the line for Jarrett.
AEW Personal Rivalry Storylines
Swerve Strickland versus AR Fox was next. Both men looked great before Ricochet tried to attack Swerve with his gold scissors. Prince Nana chased him out with a pipe, and the two men continued with some great reversals both ways. Swerve got the victory after hitting The Swerve Stomp. After the match, Ricochet came on the Jumbotron, holding the scissors to Nana’s neck.
MJF got a turn in the ring to cut a promo, and he is not done with Jeff Jarrett. After taking his jabs, MJF was interrupted by Adam Page. Page was scheduled for a squash match before MJF interrupted, and he was getting his squash match. After he disposed of the man already in the ring from before MJF interrupted, Hangman and Christopher Daniels talked at the top of the entrance ramp. Daniels explained how the injury Hangman gave him recently costed his career.
Jamie Hayter versus Julia Hart was next. Hayter pulled out the victory in a physical match, before grabbing a microphone. The two are tied at one victory reach, and Hayter is down for the tie-breaker anytime.
AEW Dynamite Main Event
The AEW Dynamite main event was Cope versus Pac. There was a good back-and-forth before Pac landed two kicks straight to the back of Cope’s head. Cope countered the subsequent submission, delivering a spear to the back. After his victory, Cope was forced to watch Deathriders knock out The Rock N Roll Express and FTR on the Jumbotron. Deathriders then surrounded Cope in the ring and it was a four-on-one mugging.
Jay White then came to Cope’s aid, taking out a couple of members before suffering a low blow. Castagnoli then made White watch Moxley choke out Cope.
