NFL Week 13 is upon us, and only one thing remains the same on our top 5 power rankings.
#5: Green Bay Packers (8-3) NEW
The Green Bay Packers have slipped their way into the top 5 power rankings. Top 5 in offensive yards per game, combined with top 10 in points against, Jordan Love and the young offense have been doing their job, while the defense has been much better than I expected. The NFC North is going to be the most interesting division down the stretch, with 2 games separating third and first. Currently all three are in a playoff spot, and all three look like solid teams.
#4: Kansas City Chiefs (10-1) -1 spot
The Kansas City Chiefs are still the team to beat in the NFL, but I had to drop them a spot. After losing to the Bills, and needing a last second field goal to beat arguably the worst team in the league in the Carolina Panthers, they just don’t present the same way they did a few weeks ago. The defense is still a top 5 defense, but the offense has slipped to the 16th rank in yards per game. QB Patrick Mahomes stats are a little below his normal average, at 18 TD’s to 11 INT’s, albeit the weapons around him have also slipped from the original plan as well.
#3: Buffalo Bills (9-2) -1 spot
The Bills are a top 3 team in points per game this season, and average 30 over the last three. The defense, like the Packers, has been better than I expected as well. Keeping opponents to under 20 points per game on average, Buffalo now sits in second place in average scoring margin, and is clearly one of the best choices to make it out of the AFC.
#2: Eagles (9-2) +2 spots
Are you still sleeping on the Eagles? 1st in defensive and 5th in offensive yards per game, they are clearly in the Super Bowl conversation. The amount of talent on paper puts them in the conversation alone, but they have proven the concept and are on a 7 game win streak.
#1: Lions (10-1) NO CHANGE
The Lions offense keeps rolling, and they keep their #1 spot on the top 5 power rankings. Averaging a league best 32.7 points per game, this puts them top 20 all time, and I wasn’t even alive for half of them. The one hole would be the pass defense, but they still manage to find a way, keeping opponents to under 17 points per game. With an average scoring margin of +16.1, what’s not to like?
