WCU Football Faces the UTC Mocs in Chattanooga

The high-flying offense of WCU football led by QB Taron Dickens heads down to Chattanooga to face the UTC Mocs in a SoCon matchup at 4pm EST on ESPN+. The Mocs are no joke, riding their own 3 game winning streak and currently in 3rd place in the SoCon Standings. One of the Mocs losses was also to future SoCon in-state rival Tennessee Tech by a score of 45-17.
The Mocs hold the 43rd ranked offense in the country behind the arm of quarterback Camden Orth. Orth has gone for 108/191 passing, with 12 TDs and 7 interceptions, for 1413 yards. However, the Mocs have the 13th best rushing offense in the country, averaging 5.45 yards per carry, and 207.1 yards per game, with 17 rushing TDs combined. Runningback Justus Durant leads the way for the Mocs with 565 yards rushing with 3 TDs on the year. Not to be outdone, Markell Quick leads the WR room for the Mocs with 26 catches for 374 yards and 2 TDs.
The Catamounts are coming off the bye week while riding a 5 game win streak. How WCU football starts this game is almost certainly going to determine its’ outcome. The Cats from Cullowhee cannot afford to get down early or have any rust from the bye. As is always the case, turnovers created by the Catamount defense are going to be a big key to this game, along with getting stops in the redzone. It is yet another tough week in the SoCon for Kerwin Bell and company, but as long as they respect their opponent, they won’t get caught taking a cat nap.
