7-Team Battle Royal: AEW World Trios Championship
All In opened with a seven-team trios battle royal for the AEW World Trios Championship. It also made the epic debut of a new trio, two of which are brand new signings: The New Level (Swerve Strickland, “Awesome” Austin Creed, and Kofi). The ring was far too overcrowded, and the match paid for it with lack of flow or momentum. As the fat was trimmed, The New Level remained whole, the Death Riders had Claudio Castagnoli and Pac remaining, while Gabe Kidd was the sole member of The Dogs. The numbers advantage, or their WWE resumes, brought the titles to Strickland, Creed, and Kofi.
The Divine Dominion Vs. The Brawling Birds: AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship
The Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne and Lena Kross) had a title defense against The Brawling Birds (Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor). The Dominion dominated with their power early, leading to the hot tag for the babyface challengers. There was a natural flow to the match, but the physicality was less than expected, especially considering the four women involved. The Birds picked up the victory, and belts, in front of their hometown crowd.
Nigel McGuiness Vs. Jon Moxley: Continental Challenge Cup & AEW Continental Championship
Next, the finals of the Continental Challenge Cup between Nigel McGuinness and AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley, with the title, and cup, on the line. Moxley has been on a dominant run, while McGuinness had been working an injury leading up to this match in front of his hometown audience.
Moxley was laying everything in deep, with the strikes heard around Wembley Stadium. McGuinness, on the other hand, despite his ring IQ, appeared a step behind for most of the match. The champion shined the challenger the best he could, including focusing on the injury to retain his championship and win the AEW Continental Challenge Cup.
Kyler Fletcher Vs. Konosuke Takeshita Vs. Kazuchika Okada: AEW International Championship
“The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher defended the AEW International Championship in a triple-threat against “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita and “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada. These three know each other well, and are all athletic giants that are light on their feet. The reversals and segments were elite, leading to some wild near-falls. Okada ultimately pinned Fletcher to become the new champion, and tried to force the former to raise his hand.
Casino Gauntlet Match
It was time for the Casino Gauntlet Match to determine the number one contender for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Talent enter at random intervals, even though its first fall to a finish. Andrade El Idolo and MJF had the privilege of opening the match, but they were quickly joined by “Speedball” Mike Bailey, “Psycho Killer” Tommaso Ciampa, and Jericho. The entrants and near felt endless from there, but it was all for not, as Andrade pinned MJF in the end.
Cope & Cage Vs. The Young Bucks: AEW World Tag Team Championship
The next match was for the AEW World Tag Team Championship, with Cope and Cage defending against The Young Bucks The match itself felt more like a WWE product, mostly spots and theatrics. To their credit, they used it to generate many tense near-falls. Cage ultimately picked up the pinfall victory for his team, and to retain the titles. The Motor City Machine Guns joined them post-match to state their intentions, but they were quickly joined by FTR, then New Level. Nothing became of it, but it paints a pretty picture moving forward.
Kevin Knight Vs. Darby Allin: TNT Championship
“The Jet” Kevin Knight defended the TNT Championship against Darby Allin in a falls count anywhere match. Allin was a mad man from the jump, launching his body like a missile, getting cut up early. Knight had spots to shine as well, including a top-rope springboard onto the announcer’s desk. The Don Callis joined their faction-mate in the title defense, as Jake Doyle and Brian Cage went to the ring and annihilated the challenger. Steven Borden tried to help his mentor, but met the same price in the end.
Allin’s hands were tapped behind his back. And while he gained some momentum like that, Cage was just too strong. Luckily for the challenger, Sting made a surprise appearance, leading to a massive crossbody, from atop a ladder, down to the floor.
With all of the commotion, Allin and Knight battled to the top of the entrance ramp, where the challenger started to climb the framework of the staging. This set up a jaw-dropping Coffin Drop through the stage itself. He’d double-up on his finisher to become the new TNT Champion.
Willow Nightingale Vs. Mercedes Mone: AEW Women’s World Championship
Willow Nightingale defended the AEW Women’s World Championship against “The CEO” Mercedes Mone. This was physical, but was more about the theatrics. For example, Nightingale working the hand cast, or Mone ripping the turnbuckle pad off. The challenger did actually end up with a shoot bloody nose.
This one featured the accidentally knocked out referee, as the two then moved to the outside. Mone pulled the cast off, and drew serious heat from the Wembley crowd. Nightingale hit a powerbomb and had the win in hand; alas, there was no official to count. The champion followed up with another powerbomb, this time, on the exposed turnbuckle.
Mone reversed the following avelanche move, slamming Nightingale to the mat. She then choked her out to become the new AEW Women’s World Champion.
Will Ospreay Vs. Kenny Omega: AEW World Heavyweight Championship
This one started with a slow feeling out process, before the intensity and difficulty gradually picked up to an elite level. Ospreay was busted up in this one, leaving pools of blood where he lay, including the floor after being put through a table. Omega used a vicious knee-strike as the challenger broke the following ten-count.
Omega continued to beat the life out of Ospreay, almost to a point of genuine concern. That said, the more he kicked out, the more the championship felt inevitable. The champion got his face busted open as the challenger made his comeback.
It’s almost impossible to mention the finish, as the false finishes went back and forth with such believability. After an all-time classic, Ospreay is the new AEW World Heavyweight Champion.
