AEW Forbidden Door is this Sunday, June 28, 2026, from the SAP Center in San Jose, California. This year’s cross-promotional event features talent from New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), and Stardom. This is the latest card and predictions.
Cope and Cage (Adam Copeland and Christian Cage) (c) vs. The Dogs (David Finlay and Clark Connors) – AEW World Tag Team Championship
This is why Cope and Cage reunited in AEW. It took longer than expected, but one of the most important teams in tag history is now on what one can only imagine is the final serious title run. The Dogs are the superior athletes and in-ring talents at this point, but the champs’ current run has been relatively short. Finlay and Connors will put on a great show, assisting in the ultimate title retention.
The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) vs. El Sky Team (Místico and Máscara Dorada) vs. Unbound Co. (Shingo Takagi and Titán)
Outside of being a Forbidden Door match, there isn’t a deep storyline or purpose for this one. That said, it’s destined to be a quick-paced, high-flying affair. The Young Bucks are a well-known staple of AEW, but El Sky Team has seen a slight increase in television time lately. It’s not the most confident prediction of the card, but look for Mistico or Mascara Dorada to pick up the pin.
Jon Moxley (c) vs. Bandido – Continental Championship at AEW Forbidden Door
Bandido has had a few run-ins with Jon Moxley over the last few weeks, but, as a whole, he’s been much more of a Ring of Honor feature. Moxley’s on a dominant run, truly elevating the Continental Championship. Both of these guys are known to leave it all in the ring every time, so this one’s destined to be a stiff contest at AEW Forbidden Door.
As promising as this match is, it’s quite the jump to shoot Bandido above Moxley. Look for the champ to retain in a physically exhausting contest.
Shota Umino (c) vs. Pac – IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship at AEW Forbidden Door
Shota Umino just won this championship a couple of weeks ago in a triple threat match, marking his first major championship in professional wrestling. Pac is one of the most talented, underrated, and underutilized guys in the business, but he’s got a job to do. Look for Umino to win a match that’ll be both stiff and full of high spots.
Thekla (c) vs. Starlight Kid – AEW Women’s World Championship
Thekla originally left Stardom for AEW, and they’ve worked that into the Forbidden Door format. Starlight Kid answered her open challenge to the promotion. With no disrespect intended to Stardom, there’s zero chance the AEW Women’s World Championship is moving over to the promotion; perhaps the Sisters of Sin will aid the champ. This would take out some of the thump of the loss.
Mercedes Moné vs. Maya World – Women’s Owen Hart Final & Number One Contender
Maya World replaced the injured Willow Nightingale in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. It’s unclear if Nightingale would have made it this far, and AEW didn’t want to change the plans, or if the push is due to the timing or the unfortunate loss of her brother (they continuously mention it on the broadcast). To World’s credit, she overdelivered on expectations to get through.
As heartwarming and entertaining World’s run has been, it’d be quite the stretch to expect Mercedes Mone to put her over in this spot. Mone likes creative control and acknowledgement, so look for her to become a two-time Owen winner.
Kenny Omega vs. Zack Sabre Jr. – AEW Forbidden Door
This is another victim of Forbidden Door booking, with Zack Sabre Jr. simply showing up to challenge Kenny Omega. While true, they are still two of the best of all time. There’s a slight chance TMDK assists Sabre pick up the victory, but Omega’s the heavy favorite heading in.
Will Ospreay vs. Swerve Strickland (with Prince Nana) – Owen Hart Final & Number One Contender
This is a favorite for the match of the night. It’s going to have grit, technicality, physicality, blood, and high spots. All signs point to Will Ospreay to win this one. The Death Riders have taken him under their wing, introducing a new intensity to his character. His promos also continue to be about the title shot in his home country.
Team Briscoe (Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, Konosuke Takeshita, and Darby Allin) vs. MJF and The Don Callis Family (Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, Jake Doyle, Kazuchika Okada, and Andrade El Ídolo) – Steel Cage
If Team Briscoe pulls out the victory, MJF will finally award Mark Briscoe the world title shot he’s been asking for. It’ll be interesting to see how they utilize so many guys in a cage match without getting stuffy.

This storyline has been going on too long for it not to pay off. Look for Briscoe to pick up the pinfall for his team, either on Jake Doyle or MJF.
