AEW Dynamite opened this week with MJF verbally ripping Mark Briscoe apart, in promotion of their main-event match later in the evening. After running threw the other matches and graphics, the show was on.
AEW Up-And-Comers
The first match saw Jon Moxley versus Mike Bailey, a big-name match for the up-and-coming Speedball. The underdog started out hot, rushing the unsuspecting former champion. It ended up being back-and-forth, Bailey not looking out of place at all, even with a few believable false finishes. Of course, Mox pulled out the victory, but it elevates the challenger nonetheless.
The next match featured Alex Windsor, Queen Aminata, Skye Blue, and Billie Starkz in a TBS qualifier match. It had entertaining moments and choppy moments. Blue heavily to blame on the slop, while Aminata looked the sharpest of the group. Windsor ultimatley earned the title shot against Mercedes Mone.
Championship Storylines
Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis were in the ring for a promo after winning the TNT Championship from Dustin Rhodes. It was too much talking to only announce an open challenge.
The Young Bucks versus Brodido was next up. It’s refreshing to see The Young Bucks finally giving back to the industry after overbooking themselves. Not only have they embraced the role, they’ve turned it into the hilarious gimmick of being jobbers, including putting over their challengers in this one. Brodido advances to the final of the tag-team elimator tournmanet to determine the number one contenders.
Grudge Match
The main-event of Dynamite was MJF versus Mark Briscoe. It was a physical grudge match. The booking of the finish ruined the whole match before it. The referree simply didn’t see Briscoe’s foot on the rope.
