GREENVILLE, S.C. — Furman came, they saw, and they conquered. The Paladins exploded out of the gates Sunday night, turning Timmons Arena into a fortress as they defeated the Queens Royals 90–79 in a high-octane clash. From lightning-fast drives to thunderous rebounds, Furman made it clear: they’re a team built for moments like this.

Wilkins Ignites, Bowser Fuels the Fire

Senior guard Alex Wilkins was unstoppable, pouring in 23 points with five rebounds and seven assists, slicing through Queens’ defense and keeping the Paladins’ offense humming. Cooper Bowser matched the intensity, scoring 17 points on near-perfect shooting and sinking five clutch free throws when the Royals threatened to swing momentum. Together, the duo lit the spark that fueled Furman’s commanding lead.

Johnston Rules the Paint, Bronson Brings the Heat

Inside, Charles Johnston controlled the boards with a double-double: 14 points and 13 rebounds. His presence in the paint created second-chance opportunities that kept Furman ahead. Off the bench, Eddrin Bronson delivered 15 points, knocking down timely threes and keeping the crowd electric. Furman’s blend of star power and bench depth made them nearly impossible to slow down.

Royals Fight Back, Sparks Ignite the Crowd

Queens refused to roll over. Maban Jabriel battled inside for 16 points and seven rebounds, while guard Nasir Mann orchestrated the offense with 14 points and four assists. Jordan Watford added 12 points, cutting the deficit and forcing Furman to dig deep. The Royals’ late push created tension, but the Paladins’ early dominance and rebounding superiority proved unshakable.

Play of the Game: Wilkins’ Game-Changer

With Queens closing in and the crowd tense, Wilkins drove baseline, weaving through traffic like a seasoned pro. Rising above defenders, he laid in a tough runner with contact and completed the three-point play with a free throw, extending Furman’s lead to 10. The arena erupted, momentum shifted decisively, and Queens was left chasing for the remainder of the game. This sequence perfectly captured Furman’s night: skill, poise, and clutch execution when it mattered most.

Extra Possessions, Extra Energy

Furman’s 36 total rebounds versus Queens’ 27 fueled critical second-chance points. Every Royals surge was met with a Wilkins drive, a Bowser bucket, or a Bronson triple. Furman’s poise, ball control, and timely scoring kept them in command and made the difference when it mattered most.

Why This Win Matters

Furman’s balanced attack, clutch execution, and depth were on full display, sending a statement that they are not just competitive — they are contenders. Queens showed flashes of brilliance and grit, but depth and sharper execution will be vital in future close contests. Sunday’s matchup was a showcase of high-energy, mid-major basketball at its finest — fast, physical, and unforgettable. For Furman fans, it was a night to savor, and for Queens, a reminder of the fight and adjustments needed to flip the script next time.
