Greenville, S.C. – Former Christ Church Episcopal School and University of South Carolina big man Jordan Butler has joined the Furman men’s basketball roster for the upcoming season, head coach Bob Richey announced this week.

Butler, a 7-foot, 237-pound senior, has seen action in 83 games and made 17 starts over three seasons in the SEC. He began his collegiate career with Missouri before joining the Gamecocks prior to the 2024-25 campaign.

“We are happy to have Jordan Butler joining our team,” said Richey. “As a Greenville native who starred at Christ Church, Jordan understands what it means to wear the Paladin jersey and represent this community. We have followed him closely and are excited to welcome him home. His experience, competitive spirit, and commitment to excellence will make an immediate impact on our program. Our staff is thrilled to have Jordan, and his family join the Furman Basketball family, and we look forward to seeing him continue his journey here in Greenville.”

Butler saw action in 25 games this past season, including four starts, and shot 44.7% (21-44) from the field and 77.4% (24-31) from the foul line. He totaled a season-best 11 points and seven rebounds in a victory over Presbyterian and posted six points and three boards in a conference win over Mississippi State. During his freshman season at Missouri, Butler played in 31 games and logged 14 starts while averaging 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.

The Greenville native led Christ Church to a pair of state titles as a prep standout and was named the 2023 South Carolina Class A Player of the Year. A two-time all-state and all-region choice he played his high school basketball for his father, John Butler.
