Darby Allin AEW Dynamite
This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite was full of action and title matches. It did a lot towards next week’s Blood and Guts and the following Full Gear PPV.
Trio’s Gold On AEW Dynamite
Dynamite opened this week with The Opps threatening to jump Tony Schivone for his actions last week. This was stopped by security and “Hangman” Adam Page, Eddie Kingston, and Hook. This led to a trio’s championship match being scheduled as the main event.
Blood And Guts
The first match of the night was the first of a two-out-of-three to determine which team has the advantage next week at Blood and Guts. Orange Cassidy versus Claudio Castignoli was up first. Castignoli looked strong early, but Cassidy also worked in some, albeit athletic, gimmick reversals. The Deathriders representative was victorious after hitting a massive and stiff pop-up European uppercut.
Women’s Blood And Guts
The next match was part of the women’s tag team title tournament. Mercedes Mone and Athena versus Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron was the matchup. Nightingale was the star of the match, showing a wide moveset and the most power. It sounds odd hearing Brian Danielson say “Babes of Wrath,” but the underdogs pulled up the upset victory.
AEW Full Gear
Schvione was back in the ring to discuss the upcoming Casino Gauntlet Match at Full Gear, and called out Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley as the first confirmed entrants. Ricochet and the Gates of Agony came to the top of the rant to declare they’d be winning, but didn’t have the guts to step in the ring with The Hurt Syndicate.
More Blood And Guts
Next up was the second match of the Blood and Guts advantage series. This one featured Darby Allin and Daniel Garcia. Allin was attacked by Pac with the referee distracted, leading to a would-be count-out, but he made it to the ring after blading. The bloody babyface got the victory via Scorpion Deathlock, but he was jumped after the match by Pac. Lucky for him, Cassidy and friends came to his rescue.
Tag Team Action On AEW Dynamite
FTR’s in-ring promo was next. The camera cut backstage, where something was happening to their upcoming opponents, Brodido, behind closed doors. The challengers for the tag titles then went ringside to make fun of Bandido’s mother and family. Gravity, Bandido’s brother, attacked FTR, but was still outnumbered. Brody King finally broke through the door backstage to aid him.
More Blood And Guts On AEW Dynamite
Mina Shirakawa versus Megan Bayne was the first in the women’s corresponding Blood and Guts advantage series. Marina Shafir attacked “Timeless” Toni Storm at ringside, who was a guest at commentary. This distraction aided Bayne to victory. A battle broke out between both teams ahead of the upcoming women’s Blood and Guts match.
The main event for the AEW Trio’s Championship was all that remained. Katsuyori Shibata and Page started the match with a great back-and-forth, and Shibata seemed to bring out the best in whoever he was in there with. Hook tapped out from a torture rack delivered by Powerhouse Hobbs.
