AEW Dynamite Fright Night
AEW Dynamite this week was a special Fright Night edition, featuring numerous matches renamed in the spirit of Halloween. Things are starting to become clear on the road to All In. How exactly did it turn out this week?
Tag Team Action On Dynamite
AEW Dynamite opened a tornado tag match where Orange Cassidy and Darbin Allin took on Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia of Deathriders. They fought into the crowd, but due to the lack of technical wrestling, the match wasn’t that dangerous. The finish featured Yuta tapping out to Allin.
A four-way tag-team match determined the number one contenders. It featured FTR, The Young Bucks, JetSpeed, and Jurassic Express. This match was certainly more physical than the first, but it was typical AEW chaos. FTR will challenge Brodido at Full Gear.
Mid-Card
The next was Kyle O’Reilly versus Jon Moxley. This match was the most technically profound by far at this point in the show. Both men with smooth reversals and believable false finishes. The match ended in a double-countout. This prompted Marina Shafir to know out the referee and a brawl between The Conglomeration and Deathriders. The two factions will face off in two weeks on a special Blood and Guts Dynamite.
The Sisters of Sin versus Queen Aminata and Jamie Hayter in the opening round of the women’s tag team tournament. One team needs to spend more time on their wrestling and athleticism, while the other is an unexpected click of talents. Aminata and Hayter appeared to be the superior team, but Thekla aided her factionmates in stealing a victory.
Dynamite Main Event
Samoa Joe, Hook, Ricochet, and Bobby Lashley competed in a four-way match to determine the number one contender for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. The two big boys used their size and control to dominate the two smaller competitors early on. Ricochet hit some unbelievable high spots, but Joe and Lashley were the only two who appeared dangerous. The Samoan Submission Machine is going to Full Gear to challenge Adam Page at Full Gear.
Afterwards, Tony Schivone called a group of people dressed for Halloweed for the contract signing. It was a rather pointless segment as The Opps took them out in seconds, and there was no payoff of somebody being in the costumes. Page eventually showed up dressed as Schivone, and he was taken away by security.
