WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Wake Forest women’s soccer team (1-0-0, 0-0-0 ACC) secured its first win of the 2026 season with a 2-0 victory over the LSU Tigers (0-1-0, 0-0-0 SEC) Wednesday night at Spry Stadium.

The Demon Deacons threw early shots at the Tigers’ keeper, with sophomore forward Allie Flanagan placing the first good look of the night on target. Redshirt-junior goalkeeper Valentina Amaral was forced into action as LSU created offensive chances of their own.

With shots tied at 8-8 headed into the half, the Deacs soon found themselves on the front foot. Senior midfielder Dempsey Brown saw a golden opportunity from a Demon Deacon corner to net her first career strike in the 69th minute.

As the Tigers pressured the Wake Forest defense, Amaral held steady with back-to-back saves in the 75th and 76th minutes.

The Deacs doubled their lead in the 87th minute, with sophomore forward Kylie Maxwell recording her seventh career goal.
