This week’s AEW Dynamite results are the go-home show for Forbidden Door this weekend.
Death Riders Vs. Brodido & Místico
Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta vs. Brody King, Bandido, and Mistico opened AEW Dynamite with trios action. While it was a physical affair, it didn’t add much to the upcoming PPV. Death Riders picked up the straightforward victory.
TBS Championship Qualifier For Forbidden Door Eliminator
The next contest was a qualifier for the TBS Championship match at Forbidden Door: Marina Shafir and Harley Cameron. Shafir blindsided Cameron during her introduction to begin this one.
Shafir was stiff from there, including vicious strikes. It was an anti-climactic finish. Cameron had little to no offense, but pulled out the victory with a roll-up reversal.
Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, Forbidden Door Build
Ahead of his match against Swerve Strickland at Forbidden Door in the Owen Hart finals, Will Ospreay took on ELP. This contest had a better back-and-forth than expected. ELP worked in plenty of offense, including exciting high spots. Both of these typical high-flyers were surprisingly physical, while also working in some traditional chain segments. If Ospreay didn’t have a PPV match this weekend, the false finishes would have been explosive. The Hidden Blade ultimately put it away for him.
To no surprise, Strickland showed up after the match. He had his own against Daniel Garcia, but made sure to cross paths with Ospreay on the way down. Garcia came in hot, which appeared to heat his opponent as well. The striking was fierce in the slow-paced start to this one.
Swerve used Ospreay’s finisher to win the match and jumped Garcia post-match for further damage. The other Owen Hart finalist came to put an end to it, but ended up on the wrong end of things, thanks to Prince Nana.
Zach Sabre Jr. Vs. Jack Perry
Zach Sabre Jr. vs. “Jungle” Jack Perry was next. Sabre was showing off his technical prowess early, with great mat and chain wrestling. Perry fought back, including a couple of high spots, but it wasn’t enough to hold off the outsider.
The Young Bucks Vs. TMDK
The Young Buck vs. TMDK followed. It was a relatively short and uneventful afair. The Bucks were attacked by TMDK, joined by fellow factionmate, Sabre, post-victory. Kenny Omega emerged to even the odds. Omega challenged Zach to a match at Forbidden Door, claiming he’ll make everyone forget him, just like they did last year.
Another TBS Championship Qualifier For Forbidden Door Eliminator
The next match was another qualifier for the upcoming TBS Championship match at Forbidden Door. This contest featured Red Velvet and Queen Aminata. While neither one was strong in the physical sense, they had a quick pace with slick reversals. Aminta advances to the elimination match for the title.
AEW International Championship Match – Ricochet Vs. Konosuke Takeshita
Ricochet challenged Konosuke Takeshita for the AEW International Championship in the main event of Dynamite. The challenger took control early, throwing his ring jacket over Takeshita’s eyes as the bell rang. He held control with his trademark high-flying moveset.
It went on to have a nice flow, with Ricochet nearly winning at the cost of the referee being used as a shield. Takeshita wouldn’t have it and did the babyface comeback for victory.
Forbidden Door Go-Home Show: In Conclusion
The final segment featured MJF attacking Mark Briscoe during a promo for their upcoming six-on-six match this weekend. From there, other participants rushed the ring, and it was mayhem on the Forbidden Door go-home edition of AEW Dynamite.
