CHARLESTON, S.C. – Five different Bulldogs found the back of the net as The Citadel (6-1-2, 1-0-0 SoCon) opened Southern Conference play with a 5-3 victory over VMI (0-9-1, 0-1-0 SoCon) on Thursday afternoon at Washington Light Infantry Field. The victory marked the 100th career win for head coach Ciaran Traquair and extended the Bulldogs’ unbeaten streak to seven consecutive matches.

Jasiah Pack, Adrianna Gill, Charlotte Seay, Sophie Voyer and Gabrielle Macer each scored as The Citadel turned a 1-1 halftime deadlock into its sixth victory of the season. The Bulldogs held a 22-14 advantage in shots and placed 12 attempts on goal compared to seven for VMI.

Pack’s seventh goal of the season moved her into a tie with Samantha Grantham for the team lead while pushing Pack to a Southern Conference-best 19 points. Grantham sits tied for third in the league with 17 points.

First Half
The Citadel tested VMI goalkeeper Leslie Surita-Perez early, with Pack placing two shots on goal within the opening seven minutes.
VMI struck first at 10:47 when Isabella Franco found the net to give the Keydets a 1-0 advantage.
The Bulldogs continued to create opportunities, with Pack, Alixandria Fletcher, Reagan Wise and Avery Lang generating chances throughout the opening half.
Pack drew The Citadel level at 31:02, converting from the penalty spot for her seventh goal of the season and her third consecutive match with a score.
The Citadel carried a 12-5 advantage in shots into halftime with the match tied at 1-1.

Second Half
The Bulldogs moved in front at 56:05 when Gill finished off a feed from Emily Steiner for her third goal of the season. The assist was Steiner’s first of the year, while Gill scored for the second consecutive match.
VMI responded at 63:49 as Jaleesa Eichel scored off an assist from Ella Peterson to even the match at 2-2.
Seay put The Citadel back in front less than two minutes later, launching a free kick from distance that slipped past the goalkeeper at 65:43 for her first goal of the season.
Voyer doubled the advantage at 69:33, staying with the play and finishing for her first collegiate goal. The strike ultimately stood as the game-winning goal.
VMI cut the margin to 4-3 on Jordan Davis’s penalty kick at 82:23, but Macer answered 45 seconds later, connecting on a free kick with a clean touch for her second goal of the season and the final tally of the match.
Pack led The Citadel with seven shots, placing five on goal, while Fletcher finished with four attempts. Zoe Santos played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded four saves.

The four second-half goals continued a season-long trend for the Bulldogs, who have now scored 21 times after halftime through nine matches. Thursday’s five goals also came from five different players, bringing The Citadel’s total to 11 different goal scorers this season.
Up next, the Bulldogs travel to Chattanooga for a 2 p.m. conference matchup on Sunday, Sept. 20.
