ETSU Bucs Women's Soccer Huddle
Bucs Win Out Home Season Opener
Home Opener for The Bucs, and for 87 minutes of play The Bucs and Wolves were at a stale mate. That changed when Reagan Fitzgerald was on the assist and sent the shot to Alex Beck to give ETSU their first win of the season.
That score was not without a fight though, as ETSU has 14 shots attempted, while West Georgia had 8. Beck now has her second goal of the season, and Fitzgerald has racked up 8 assists in her career this far. Fitzgerald is placing her name again in the history books for The Bucs. She became the 9th person in school history to score 40+ career points. Fitzgerald and Beck owed it to their entire team. “Our defense is solid.. even though we get all the credit over here, we would not be where we are if they did not do their job either. Defense is what won us the game today.”
Speaking with Coach, he’s looking towards Sunday at UNCA. “The focus is turning our goal scoring chances into momentum, and keeping teams off of the board. Keep getting shutouts and being aggressive and assertive on defense.” Overall, defense won the day for The Bucs against West Georgia.

Additionally in the end, The Bucs are a community. The fans, the students, the staff support the counterparts. Fitzgerald recognized this ” Oh, I love when it’s a big crowd. It keeps up going. Whenever we’re struggling, it’s hot, we’re tired, a little cheer from the stands gives us the push at the end.”
The Bucs head over the mountain on Sunday, August 23rd to face the UNC-A Bulldogs at Greenwood Stadium. Game is set to start at 2pm and will be aired on ESPN+.
