These WWE Backlash predictions will be answered Saturday, May 21, 2026, at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida.
WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jacob Fatu
This may be a battle for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but it’s also a clash of Samoan heavyweights, fighting for supremacy. “The Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu has been on the run of his life, but he’s also going up against possibly WWE’s biggest draw, “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns. Both men bring something different that could complement the other. Fatu could bring a more physical style to the Reigns’ championship match resume, and Reigns excels in the drama, the storytelling, the facial expressions, and other things that fall more on the sports-entertainment side of things.
A loss would put some ice in the pan of either man, so WWE will look to protect one of them in the loss. Fatu has shown the ability to bounce back from the occasional loss, and it would be a big blow to Reigns’ character to drop the title so quickly after regaining it. The finish will be dirty, perhaps, with The Usos aiding in the champion’s retention.
Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker – WWE Backlash Predictions
Injuries seemed to speed up the progress of Seth Rollins leaving The Vision, and it’s elevating Bron Breakker from a physical up-and-comer to a main-event wrestling talent. Breakker will likely be accompanied by The Vision (Paul Heyman and WWE World Tag Team Champions Austin Theory and Logan Paul). A loss here slows the push of someone they’ve been pushing quite hard.
Having the greatest manager in history and the tag team champs in the opposing corner could certainly help protect Rollins in a loss. It’s difficult to picture someone of his caliber losing, but WWE has been building Breakker for a while now, and they’re committed to their investment. Look for the young stud to win, with some outside interference.
United States Championship: Trick Williams (c) vs. Sami Zayn
The quick and sharp turn from the WWE Universe on Sami Zayn is worth a documentary in itself. After years of outcry for Zayn to be pushed, dropping the WWE United States Championship on him right before this year’s WrestleMania hit a switch with the audience.
Trick Williams is arguably the hottest, or at least the fastest-rising, star in WWE. After just grabbing this title from Zayn at WrestleMania, it’s unlikely to drop it back to the same guy the following month. The champ has also introduced Lil Yachty to stick around for a while post-WrestleMania.
Asuka vs. IYO SKY – WWE Backlash Predictions
These are two of the best in-ring talents to hit the WWE roster. Both have already had a Hall of Fame career, but “The Genius of the Sky” IYO SKY has been the more successful in recent history. “The Empress of Tomorrow” Asuka, perhaps had the more dominant span and historical title runs, ruling NXT, then WWE, for years. SKY, on the other hand, is one of the biggest babyfaces in the company. That’s difficult on its own, but to do so as a woman who doesn’t speak fluent English is an incredible feat.

They are both spectacular in the ring and have similar styles. Asuka may get the edge in striking and physicality, while SKY could get it for her pace and high spots. The prediction is fairly straightforward. The Empress of Tomorrow just lost her main storyline, with the release of “The Pirate Princess” Kairi Sane, while The Genius of the Sky had actually been in the title picture recently.
Danhausen & mystery partner vs. The Miz & Kit Wilson
The internet seems to have named Jelly Roll as the favorite to be Danhausen’s tag partner. Either way, any match he’s involved in is a gimmick match, so this is doomed for the same, regardless. The Miz and Kit Wilson are the perfect characters to take a loss, and they’re not pinning one of the kids’ favorite flavors of the month.
WWE Backlash Predictions, In Conclusion
