We are ready for Game 3 of the NCAA Division 2 with the home team and #1 seed Anderson Trojans (29-2, 20-2 SAC) taking on the #8 seed Young Harris Mountain Lions (22-8, 16-4 CC). The Trojans have been a force in the SAC all year and are national ranked in the top 10 all year. The winners of the SAC Championship last Saturday look to turn home cooking into a win today. The Young Harris Champions out of the Conference Carolinas comes in ready to play David to Goliath and shock everyone this weekend.

The first half was the Mountain Lions taking control early, making the Trojans play from behind and showing they belong in the talk to win it all. The Trojans by the 13-minute mark are behind 11 points and needing to get some stops with some clutch shooting and trim the lead down. The Trojans at the 5-minute mark cut the lead to 32-25 and look to get back in this game. The sellout crowd has really given the Trojans home court advantage. Anderson is the lone SAC team left in the tournament after LMU and Catawba lost in the earlier games today. The Trojans are looking to make their first trip to the Final 4 in Indianapolis this year.

We come to halftime with Young Harris the #8 seed in the lead 40-35 over the #1 seed Anderson Trojans, the Mountain Lions have played a very good game so far but will need to play the half of its year versus the Trojans in order to win today. The leaders for both teams right now are Mountain Lions Justin Payne 13 points, with Aiden Gibson & Jalen Ware adding 12 points apiece. The Trojans Caleb McAbee with 8 points, Kadyn Dawkins & Andre Wright Jr. with 7 points apiece.
We are now in the final half for one of these teams, and at this point the Trojans are down 5 points to the Mountain Lions. We will see if the Trojans can come out and take control of the game or let this one get out of hand. The Trojans at the 14:04 mark have battled back but the fans are going crazy about several if not many bad calls by the crew doing the ref jobs. The Trojans are down 46-41 and have had several chances to get back in the game but calls have stopped them, and Coach Jimmie Williams is about to have a fit and has basically told the team it’s them versus everyone on the court.
The Trojans at 11:23 left in the game finally take the lead 49-48 as the crowd has gone crazy in here, and the players have decided they will take this game into its own hands. The game with 5 minutes to go is now 60-58 Young Harris leading and Anderson having to play careful as they have too many players in foul trouble due to bad calls. This game is really being questionable with the way the refs are calling it. The players should be the ones being the reason it’s won or loss, not the refs. Taking nothing away from Young Harris who has made the shots they needed to make, but the Trojans have been short cut by the refs. This is the first time I have ever called out the refs in a game like this, but it needs to be done.
We are in the final minute of this great game, and we hope the players decide this game. The Trojans are down 5 and need to stop the Mountain Lions a couple times and get shots in. The fans are standing and it’s time to see who will come out on top. Anderson gets a huge help with a foul on Young Harris, and they get two free shots, plus then double dribble and Anderson get the ball back down only one 65-64. They also get the Lions to foul on the shot and now are at the line with a chance to tie the game and they do. We have 18 seconds left and the Trojans are down 68-67 and foul to save time on the clock and make the Lions work for the points.
The game ends with Young Harris winning 72-69 over the Anderson Trojans and will now move on to face either North Georgia or Lenoir-Rhyne.
