Hip hop legend, Master P, opened up this episode of Dynamite from New Orleans. He introduced the new AEW World Trios Champions, The Opps. The celebrations was short-lived, as the former champs, Deathriders, jumped the group. With the help of P, The Opps fought their way back, only for The Young Bucks and The Rain Maker to appear ringside. Things got further out of control with the seperate appearances of Swerve Strickland and Kenny Omega. As Deathriders powdered, Joe announced his intention to regain the AEW World Championship.
AEW Dynamite 04/23/25
The first match was Ricochet versus Mark Briscoe. Ricochet is improving as a heel, whining about the ref and the crowd, amongst other things. Outside of a few slick reversals and a couple standard high spots, the match was lacklustre. Briscoe reversed a pin in which Ricochet was using the rope for leverage into a pin of his own, to win the match. Ricochet attacked the winning particpant with a steel chair, before running from Kevin Knight, who came to recsue.
FTR had an in-ring interview with Tony Schiavone, but before that, they announced Stokley Hathaway their new manager. The group called The Rock n Roll Express to the ring, just to jump them and plug their new shirts. On the front it read “Living Legends Killer.”
The Young Bucks faced Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight in tag action. There was very little wrestling, but plenty of speed and reversals, tandem moves, and exciting false finishes. Knight was interrupted by Ricochet, costing him the match.
The next match was between Brody King and Will Ospreay versus Josh Alexander and Konosuke Takeshita. All four men showed out in this one. Physicality, reversals, high spots, false finishes, it had it all. Alexander pinned King for the victory and to advance in the Owen Hart Tournament. The Don Callis Family layed a beatdown after the match.
Jamie Hayter versus Kris Statlander was next, and the winner advancing in the Owen. Hayter would win, despite being outpowered the whole match. She now faces Mercedes Mone in the finals.
