The South Carolina Gamecocks Women’s Basketball team was able to become just the 10th team in the history of the game to go unbeaten for the entire season. The out lasted Iowa in the championship game 87-75 to win the Championship with freshman Tessa Johnson shooting 7/11 with 19 points in the game. Kamilla Cardoso added on 15 points in her final game as a Gamecock.

Iowa guard Caitlin Clark lead with 30 points with 18 of those points coming in a record setting first quarter. The Gamecocks was behind for all but 70 seconds of the first half before going on a 9-2 run and going ahead 49-46 going into the break. USC then opened up on a 6-0 run to start the second half and extending its lead to as many as 14 points before Iowa started climbing back in the game. Yet, USC with clutch free throws and shots in the post was able to keep Iowa from coming back and got the win.
