The Furman Paladins Lacrosse (0-0, 0-0 Big South) travels to open the season at ACC powerhouse and #9 Clemson Tigers (1-0, 0-0 ACC) at Clemson Lacrosse Center. The Paladins are bringing in a huge number of new players this year but are led by Lily Toole who last year had 85 points, 64 goals, and 21 assist. She will be helped by returning starters Lilly Dyer, Skylar Hilmer, and Madigan Brewer who had 72 saves last year.

The top ranked Tigers are coming off a win versus SEC Vanderbilt 20-5 in its first game this past Saturday. The Tigers lead 13-2 by halftime and kept Vanderbilt in its rear-view mirror. Soph Brooke Goldstein lead the Tigers with 5 goals, 2 assists, while picking up 2 ground balls. The Tigers Freshman class ranked #1 by Inside Lacrosse will be led by top player Alexa Spallina.

We are ready for the 1st Qtr. here in Clemson as they face off. Clemson wins the faceoff and we are on our way in this game. Furman gets the first penalty of the night with a green card against #15 Zoe Milmoe a 1-minute penalty. The Tigers take advantage and get the first score #0 Emma Penczek her 3rd goal of the season with #1 Alexa Spallina getting the assist at 12:43 mark. The Tigers add on two more goals, and we are at 3-0 Clemson over Furman with 9 minutes left in the first.

Furman #18 Lily Toole gets the Paladins on the board and its 3-1 Tigers in front as we have a media timeout. The Paladins have been playing defense for 95% of the game so far as Coach Gail Wallach has a very young team this year. Furman gets lucky as Clemson overshoots the goal and Paladins take over heading to Clemson. Clemson gets a foul on #36 a green card, and Furman takes over on offense. Furman turns over and Clemson takes it down and we end the first quarter with the Tigers leading 3-1 over the Paladins.

Clemson hits the first goal of the 2nd quarter and its 4-1 Tigers as #1 Alexa Spallina gets the goal as the Freshman has her 4th goal of the season and showing why she is the #1 player in the 2025 class. The ensuing play Clemson gets a green card #19 1-minute penalty as we are at 13 minutes left in the half.

Clemson turns around and gets yet another score and its 5-1 as once again Alexa Spallina gets the goal her third of the night versus the Paladins. Alexia Spallina gets yet another goal on the Paladins and its 6-1 Tigers with 9:25 left in the half. The Tigers score when #35 Maddigan Miller scores, her first as a Tiger. Clemson Freshman are leading the way for this team versus Furman. Furman gives up another goal as we head to a media timeout, and the score is now 8-1 as #26 Aubrie Eisfeld gets the score on the Paladins. Coach Wallach has her young team off to the side trying to energize them that they can still get back in this game.

Clemson turns it over at the free play and Furman takes over for the first time in a while. We have 3:44 left in the half and the Paladins are waiting on a review on the play where the Clemson player may have entered the circle, but we are waiting to see if they scored on the play. The play stands a violation and no score by the Tigers. We are now at halftime as Clemson leads 9-1 over the Paladins.
