WWE SNME Promo
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event took fans to The Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The card featured a championship match, a number one contender match, and a couple of well-travelled veterans facing off. Not to mention the thrown-out match included in these SNME results.
SNME Results – Jacob Fatu Vs. Cody Rhodes
Jacob Fatu got the action started quickly – attacking Cody Rhodes while he was on the turnbuckle for his entrance and pyro. The ref and security were all taken out; it was pure mayhem. Eventually, Rhodes battled back, even launching Fatu over the announcer’s table. The Samoan Werewolf wasn’t down for long before brawling through the crowd.
This match never officially got started. After a gimmick spot of beating up referees, Drew McIntyre made a surprise appearance. The reason: a low blow to Rhodes. It felt like a strange booking to ruin a fourth of the card of a special event.
SNME Results – Women’s Tag Team Championship
Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky defended the Women’s WWE World Tag Team Championship against Roxanne Perez and Liv Morgan. This wasn’t the best performance for this list of stars. All of the spots were obvious and took too long to set up. Even a false finish seemed to be botched when Ripley didn’t break it up in time.
Raquel Rodriguez eventually came to help her Judgement Day faction mates, but that prompted the return of Stephanie Vaquer. This was enough momentum for the champs to retain. They may be friends, but Ripley’s thirsty gimmick doesn’t pair well with Sky’s wholesome image.
WWE SNME Results – AJ Styles Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
AJ Styles will put his career on the line at the Royal Rumble next week, but first, he’d have to deal with Shinsuke Nakamura. After a nostalgic beginning, the match was off to a lightning pace. The reversals were on point, and the strikes were stiff.
The finish was set up during the match by Nakamura, who was working a knee energy. Styles showed innovation in the various ways he focused on the injury. The Phenomenal One puts his career on the line next week against Gunther.
Main Event – Fatal Four-Way No. 1 Contender Match
The number one contender match featured Randy Orton, Trick Williams, Sami Zayn, and Damian Priest. This one fell a little flat. All of the spots and reversals felt predictable and rehearsed. Orton was the predicted winner, but Zayn had the hometown pop on his side. Outside of being in Montreal, it feels like poor booking. He’s not the best wrestler, athlete, strongest, or best on the mic out of this group.
In Conclusion
Nakamura and Zayn stole the show, and Zayn won with the home-field advantage. The action continues to Royal Rumble next weekend.
