Paladins Shutout Broncos & Advance to Sweet 16
The Furman Paladins (14-1-4) punched their ticket to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournaments with a huge win over the Western Michigan Broncos (8-9-4) 1-0 in the 42 minutes of the game at Eugene Stone Stadium. The Broncos who had just knocked off the Clemson Tigers in Clemson at Riggs Field earlier in the week, came into the game riding high.

Western Michigan known for its soccer over the past years, was not able to get past Furman goalkeeper Ivan Hovart who had 10 shots against him and only one he had to make a save against. Furman on the other hand needed only the one goal by Trip Campbell with a assist by Diego Hernandez to get it past Broncos GK Alex Lindewirth.

Furman will now play Hofstra at Stone Stadium next week at Eugene Stone Stadium after they upset Vermont today in the other quarterfinal game. Furman had 10 shots on the Broncos, 5 corner kicks 13 fouls and only needed one save. The players after the game talked about how close the team is and how with-it being Coach Doug Allison’s last, they want it to be special.
