Mark Briscoe Ricochet Double or Nothing AEW
AEW Dynamite opened with what seemed to be a normal segment for wrestling, with Toni Storm walking into the building. Mercedes Mone blindsided her backstage and dominated the world champion the entire time. The segment ended with Mina Shirakawa coming to the aid of Storm.
AEW Tag Action
The first match of the night was Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay versus Blake Christian and Lee Johnson. The Young Bucks changed the timing of this match at the last minute and even interrupted the match for a distraction. Strickland hit Christian with a House Call for his team’s victory.
Swerve took a mic to address The Young Bucks after the match. Ospreay, they challenged them to a tag match with their jobs on the line. These two in power would surely be interesting, but impossible.
Kota Ibushi On Dynamite
Kota Ibushi versus Trent Baretta was up next. They buried the piledriver in this match, with Ibushi kicking out of a vicious one. Otherwise, it was a physical back-and-forth, but, of course, the win goes to Ibushi. Kazuicki Okada came to the ring in a promo for their upcoming match for Dynamite 300.
More Multi-Man Matches
“Speedball” Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight challenged Ricochet and AR Fox in tag action. After tricking Fox into partnering with him, Ricochet left him high and dry to take the beating and the loss. The winners thought this was enough of a win to challenge The Hurt Business, who jumped them then and there. The champs beat them senseless all around the ringside.
Briscoe, Roderick Strong, Kazuchika Okada, and Bandito battled for the number one spot in the upcoming gauntlet match. This was as physical as one could expect for free, and all men were executing smooth reversals. Briscoe pulled out the win and the number one spot.
Next, the ladies had a four-way tie to determine their number one spot. This one featured Kris Statlander, Athena, Willow Nightingale, and Thunder Rosa. The match was satisfactory, but lacked the intensity of the men, and also looked choppy at times. Statlander earned the number one spot for All In.
AEW Dynamite Main Event
The main event saw “Hangman” Adam Page versus The Beast Mortos. As underrated as Morton is, this was never about the match. During his post-match celebration, the arena went pitch-black. When they came back, the Young Bucks appeared to hit Page with their EVP Trigger. The champion saw the opportunity from the back, and the Deathriders circled his number one contender in the ring. Mox wrapped a chain around his neck until The Opps and Will Ospreay saved the day.
