AEW Dynamite opened this week with Mercedes Mone defending her TBS Championship against Hikaru Shida. The two would have a decent back-and-forth in an average match. Kamille would be the difference-maker, causing distractions and damage to lead to the pinfall victory for Mone. After the match, we heard the music of Britt Baker, who made her way from the crowd. Baker would have Mone set up for her submission, The Lockjaw, but was saved by Kamille. It will be Britt Baker versus Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship at All In.

The next segment saw Hangman Adam Page jump Jay Lethal during a backstage interview. They ended up in the ring where, for some unknown reason, a referee was present and ready to ring the bell. Despite the awkward start of the match, they began with great pace and intensity. Page hit a Buckshot to secure the pinfall in this shorter but very physical match.
SPIKED

Darby Allin was making his entrance when blindsided by his opponent at All In, Jack Perry. Perry dragged Darby to the back, and the two continued the brawl. Perry got the best of Allin, hitting him with a trash can and throwing him into a garage door before trapping him under the same door. Officials tore them apart before Perry challenged him to make their upcoming match a Coffin Match.

The next match would be for a spot in the upcoming gauntlet match. It would feature Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly in a triple threat match. If I had one picky complaint, it would be that there wasn’t much utilization of all three men; they just seemed to rotate who was hurt on the outside. That being said, the match was great, with a stiff move set, great high spots, and good pacing. We would see Undisputed Kingdom come out to help their faction-mate, Roderick Strong, but they were promptly escorted out by Mark Briscoe and Ishii. They did start working all three in near the end of the match, leading up to a surprising finish that saw Kyle O’Reilly with a submission locked onto Roderick Strong, only to have Orange Cassidy roll him up from that position for a pinfall victory.
Have a seat, Orange.

Tony Schiavone would call Hook into the ring next. Hook would address Chris Jericho, who has an injured eye covered with a bandage. He would challenge him for the FTW Championship. The Learning Tree would come out to the top of the ramp and Jericho would accept the challenge for All In but would have some stipulations. If he loses, he can never challenge for the FTW Championship again. He also has to face Big Bill next week on Dynamite. Hook would, of course, accept and let Jericho know he will never be the same again (an homage to one of Jericho’s old promos).

The Young Bucks would defend the AEW Tag Team Championship against The Acclaimed. The Acclaimed would jump them during their entrance and have the upper hand early on. The teams would have a decent match before the referee was inadvertently knocked out. The Young Bucks would take advantage and hit a low blow before FTR would come out to attack The Young Bucks’. The referee would come to and call off the match. The Acclaimed would get in the face of FTR for ruining their title match. After the match, it was announced that FTR will face off with The Acclaimed to determine the number one contender for All In.

The main event would see Wheeler Yuta versus Swerve Strickland, with Bryan Danielson at ringside. Swerve would be dominant early on and would make sure Danielson noticed. Danielson would cheer on Yuta to make a comeback as the match improved, as both men were looking great. The speed and crispness of the reversals were on display. Swerve would prove to be too dominant and would hit three consecutive House Calls before the referee would call off the match when Yuta was knocked out cold. Danielson would come to his aid, only to end up with a blindside House Call of his own.
