Zebulon, NC- The Carolina Mudcats (18-15) played host to Charleston RiverDogs (20-12) in a Saturday Evening Contest. The Mudcats entered tonight 3.5 games back of the Fredericksburg Nationals (22-13). The Mudcats sent Bishop Letson (1-4) to the mound who entered tonight with a 2.91 ERA in 52.2 innings pitched. The RiverDogs sent Santiago Suarez (5-5) to the mound who entered tonight with a 4.74 ERA in 79.2 innings pitched.
Charleston got on the scoreboard when the first batter of the game hit a home run to right field which gave Charleston a 1-0 lead. Charleston increased their lead when Jhon Diaz hit a no doubt home run to right field which increased the lead to 2-0. The Mudcats got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second when Juan Baez scored on a fielders choice by Daniel Guilarte to cut the lead to 2-1.
Tonight’s game was officially postponed at 6:56 pm. The reason for this postponement was rain that moved in during the bottom of the 4th inning. The grounds crew did their best to preserve the field, but the rain began too quick which made the field unable to continue action tonight. The game will be continued tomorrow afternoon at Noon. The Mudcats will play the final game of the series in a 7 inning contest following the completion of game 1.
