Auburn, AL- The Auburn Tigers took on the #4 Tennessee Volunteers in game 2 of a 3-game series at Hitchcock Field at Plainsman Park. The game started with Tennessee’s leadoff man, Christian Moore, getting a single.

After a fly out and a strikeout, Moore was caught stealing for the unconventional three up and three down. Auburn also had a base runner, with a Mason Maners walk. Post walk the Tigers went quietly in order. The second inning is where it started to get out of hand. Kavares Tears lead off the second with a strikeout, then Dalton Bargo hit a solo home run. The homer was followed by a walk, a double, a pop out, and another walk before Christian Moore hit a Grand Slam that broke open the game to 5-0. At this point Auburn’s starter, Connor McBride, exited the game for Tanner Bauman. Bauman finished the inning. The bottom of the second again was mostly quiet for Auburn outside of a Cade Belyeu double. Dylan Dreiling led off the third with a solo shot. After a walk, Bargo hit his second home run of the day and ended the day for Bauman. Chase Allsup came in relief. Allsup gave up a walk and a single but was able to escape the inning without giving up any more runs. After three, the Vols lead 8-0 over the Tigers. The top of the fourth started off with a Blake Burke home run on a 3-1 count, but no other damage was recorded. Allsup settled in only giving up another solo shot in the sixth inning. However, in the seventh he gave up a single and two doubles and two more runs before exiting with two outs. Ben Schorr came in to get the final out. In the bottom of the inning the Tigers were able to score two runs to close the gap to 10 runs, but that was all they would get. They were run ruled 12-2 in the seventh inning.

Auburn drops to 18-12 and 2-9 in the SEC to Tennessee. The two teams will play again in the rubber game of the series on Sunday at 1pm CST.
