CLEMSON, S.C. — Across three games this weekend, Florida State displayed a blueprint for success: timely hitting, powerful swings in clutch moments, and consistent defense under pressure. Clemson fought hard in each contest but ultimately fell 4-1, 4-2, and 7-3. The Tigers showed flashes of resilience, situational hitting, and quality pitching, but FSU’s depth and timely offense proved the difference.

Game 1 — Friday, March 27: Florida State 4, Clemson 1

Clemson’s defense set the early tone, turning four double plays — tying a program record — and keeping the Tigers in striking distance through the first three innings.

Florida State broke through in the fourth. Back-to-back singles from Ashtyn Danley and Bella Ruggiero set the stage. Shelby McKenzie’s hit up the middle scored Danley, followed by a fielder’s choice and a Marin Heller double that pushed across two more runs, giving the Seminoles a 3-0 edge.

Clemson responded with a bases-loaded situation in the bottom of the fourth. Mac Pavese, Marian Collins, and Macey Cintron reached safely, setting up Julia Knowler’s sacrifice fly, which cut the deficit to 3-1.

Florida State added an insurance run in the seventh when Jaysoni Beachum singled home Isa Torres. Despite a complete-game effort from Sierra Maness, Clemson could not overcome the early deficit.

Turning point: FSU’s fourth-inning rally — combining timely hitting and aggressive baserunning — created the separation needed to hold the lead.

Game 2 — Saturday, March 28: Florida State 4, Clemson 2

The second game was a tug-of-war, with momentum swinging inning to inning. Clemson struck first in the bottom of the first, manufacturing a run on a groundout by Marian Collins that scored Jamison Brockenbrough after a walk.

Florida State responded in the fourth, taking advantage of a defensive miscue to score two unearned runs. Clemson countered in the fifth with a textbook squeeze bunt by Kiley Channell, scoring Kylee Johnson to tie the game at 2-2.

The decisive blow came in the sixth. Anna Hinde launched a two-run home run, putting the Seminoles ahead for good. Starter Abby Dunning threw 5.2 innings with five strikeouts, while Keira Crosby added 1.1 innings of relief.

Turning point: Hinde’s sixth-inning blast turned a tie game into control for Florida State.

Game 3 — Sunday, March 29: Florida State 7, Clemson 3

The finale was Florida State’s most emphatic statement. FSU scored early, taking advantage of defensive pressure in the first inning. Isa Torres delivered a third-inning solo home run and a three-run homer in the sixth, giving the Seminoles a commanding lead.

Clemson responded in the third. Taylor Pipkins and Kiley Channell delivered consecutive singles, setting up Mac Pavese’s RBI single to pull within 2-1. Florida State added runs in the fourth and fifth, maintaining pressure on Clemson’s defense.

Clemson’s only late highlight came in the seventh when Macey Cintron drew a walk and Julia Knowler hit a two-run home run, cutting the deficit to 7-3 before the final out.

Turning point: Torres’ sixth-inning three-run home run put the game out of reach.
