Furman Paladins Volleyball vs. N.C. A&T Aggies
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Agata Zwierzynska had a match high 13 kills Saturday afternoon to lift the North Carolina A&T Aggies to a 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 25-18, 25-13) victory over the Furman volleyball team on the final day of the Furman Invitational from Timmons Arena.

The loss drops the Paladins to 3-3 overall while the Aggies improve to 4-2 on the season.

Izzy Castelloe paced the Furman offense with 10 kills, giving her seven straight matches with double digit kills and 10 in the last 11 contests. Emily Navarro posted her team leading fifth double-double of the year, and fourth consecutive, on 20 assists and 12 digs. Ashtan Dodson poured in eight kills and 11 digs while Kennedy Seekford led all players with 16 digs. Kacie Moore turned in six blocks and Rebekah Buchholz four.

Zwierzynska hit .333 for the contest to lead North Carolina A&T offensively while Zariah Winton and Tyne Ross both added double doubles. Winton totaled 11 kills and 12 digs with Ross adding 10 kills and 13 digs. Kirsten Kemper dished out 25 assists.

The Paladins were limited to just .033 hitting in the first set as the Aggies picked up a 25-19 win. Castelloe had three kills, Navarro three assists, and Seekford five digs. The Aggies opened by scoring six of the first eight points before Furman cut its deficit down to 12-10 a few plays later when Castelloe connected on a kill. North Carolina A&T broke the set open with an 8-3 run. The Paladins got to within four at 22-18, but the Aggies clinched the set scoring four of the last six points.

Furman responded in the second set by claiming a 25-21 victory to tie the match at 1-1. The Paladins posted a .205 hitting mark in the frame and held North Carolina A&T to an .083 clip. Dodson compiled five kills, Navarro 11 assists, and Seekford six digs. The teams traded the first 10 points before Furman went into the media break ahead 15-11 off Buchholz’s service ace. An Aggie attack error put the Paladins in front 20-15. North Carolina A&T made a late rally to trail by two, but Dodson registered three straight kills to give Furman the set.

The Aggies secured the match following a 25-18 triumph in the third set and 25-13 win in the fourth. The Paladins turned in a .154 hitting mark in the third and -.086 clip during the fourth. The third set saw Castelloe and Campbell Woods both register two kills, Morgan Baldridge three assists, and Navarro five digs. Three different Furman players had two kills in the fourth set, Navarro contributed four assists, and Dodson four digs.

North Carolina A&T started the third set on a 9-2 run when the Paladins came back with an 8-4 run of their own to trail 13-10 after back-to-back service aces from Navarro. The Aggies broke the set open scoring seven of the next 10 points and went on to the 25-18 victory.

Moore and Navarro teamed up for a block to give Furman an early 5-4 lead in the fourth set. A few plays later, a North Carolina A&T service error evened the score at 7-7. The Aggies outscored the Paladins 18-6 the rest of the way to clinch the set and match.

The Paladins travel to Buies Creek, N.C., next weekend, September 11-12, to face Stetson, Ball State, and Campbell in the Fairfield Inn and Suites Dunn Campbell Invitational.
