AEW Dynamite Recap July 1, 2026 – First show since Forbidden Door PPV.
MJF Vs. Mark Briscoe – AEW World Heavyweight Championship Match
After his team won the steel cage match at Forbidden Door, Mark Briscoe opened the show with a title shot at MJF for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Briscoe showed wounds from Sunday’s war, and the champ honed in early. The challenger was a bloody mess, but fought hard to give back the receipts.
MJF may not be the one to slice himself up much, but he’ll take some stiff bumps. Briscoe used, among other things, the cement floor and a table to inflict punishment. This one also delivered some spectacular false finishes.
MJF ultimately pinned the bloody challenger in a great back-and-forth brawl. Kenny Omega saved Briscoe from a further beating postmatch, and requested a title shot. The response was a title shot next week, with the stipulation that if Omega loses, he can never be AEW World Heavyweight Champion again, and to let him know by the end of the night.
Andrade El Ídolo – AEW Dynamite Recap
The next segments featured Andrade El Idolo being interviewed by Tony Schvione, who betrayed MJF and The Don Callis Family during the cage match at Forbidden Door. It didn’t take long for the faction to interrupt and lay the hurt on Andrade.
Kevin Knight Vs. Lio Rush – AEW TNT Championship Match
“The Jet” Kevin Knight put his AEW TNT Championship on the line against “Blackheart” Lio Rush. This match had little action or wrestling, and was largely centered around Rush’s theatrics. Knight retained before Darby Allin’s music hit the airwaves.
Callis interrupted Knight when it seemed he was about to accept Allin’s title shot request. Nothing concrete came of it, but it faded with an interesting shot of “Speedball” Mike Bailey in the crowd.
Death Riders Vs. Vanilla Swirl – AEW Dynamite Recap
2026 Owen Hart Foundation Cup Winner, “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay, and AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley teamed up to take on Vanilla Swirl (Blake Christian and Lee Johnson). The Swirl is an underrated team who showed off their quickness, high-flying, and impressive tandem offense.
Moxley and Ospreay were sure to shine their opponents before mounting a comeback. Back-to-back finishers led to the demise of Vanilla Swirl.
Jay White Return – AEW Dynamite Recap
“Switchblade” Jay White, accompanied by the Bang Bang Gang, made his long-awaited return to Dynamite. They are starting a faction rivalry with The Dogs.
TBS Championship Eliminator Match
Maika, Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, Persephone, Queen Aminata, and Hikaru Shida clashed in an elimination match for the AEW TBS Championship. Cameron was out fairly quickly, before the show cut to commercial.
The move was soft, as if everyone was told to take extra care. Maika was next to go, courtesy of a surprise roll-up pin from Shida. Persephone kept her momentum going with her second elimination; this time, it was Aminta.
Persephone and Statlander got together for the best segment of the match, including smooth reversals and some power moves. They even had the only believable false finishes.
It eventually dwindled to Statlander and Shida. Persephone was ultimately eliminated by Kris, and didn’t take it lightly. She would knock her out to cost her the match, and crown Hikaru the new TBS Champion.
AEW Dynamite Recap: In Conclusion
Omega took the ring to answer MJF’s stipulation for the final segment. After drawing out the crowd, he ultimately accepted the stipulation. They’ll face off on next week’s AEW Dynamite recap, right here on Greenville Sports Media.
