Anderson Trojans vs. Tusculum Pioneers

The Anderson University football team (3-1, 2-0 SAC) was able to get a huge win over Tusculum (2-2) scoring 14 points in the second quarter and holding Tusculum to just a touchdown in the third. Both teams played well enough to keep the game in question till the last minute.

The Trojans had less yards 221 yards to Tusculum 253 yards in which 142 yards in the air with 79 rushing to get the win. Tusculum had 149 yards in the air with 104 rushing, with both teams being perfect in the red zone. Anderson’s Aaron Bryant led the Trojans with his 10 tackles including 1.5 for loss including a sack.

Tusculum put the football on the ground five times on the 84-degree afternoon, losing two of fumbles as the Pioneers entered the contest as one of only eight NCAA Division II teams yet to commit a turnover on the season.

It was a defensive slugfest between the teams as Tusculum outgained Anderson in total offense by a 253-221 margin. The Pioneer defense also recovered a pair of fumbles, while the Trojans posted seven tackles for loss including two sacks. TU also tallied three stops behind the line of scrimmage with a sack.

The Trojans RB Darren Llyod was 17 for 65 yards against Tusculum, and QB Wilson Edwards was 19 of 26 for 142 yards. The trojans had 8 players with a catch and WR led them with 7 catches for 66 yards.
