Game Two; Saturday Showout
Second game of the series took place at 2:05pm on May 2nd. The Bucs coming off of a massive lead Friday afternoon are trying to seek out a series win and make history for ETSU’s baseball program.
This game was a definitive showcase of ETSU’s defense, keeping UConn from scoring until the 8th, and even then they were kept to just one run. Offensively, The Bucs were just as dominant. Little started off the scoring hits, singling to left center and allowing Fetterman to score off an error at 1st Base. Again in the third, Conner scored off of a double to right center from Curless. Scoring was stagnant for The Bucs until the 7th when Guanzon tripled to left center, sending Palmer to home plate.
8th inning brought ETSU one more run, this one from Curless sending a homer out to right field. The 8th was additionally the only inning UConn scored, this one from Menzel. Later in the 9th, Conner sent a fly ball to left allowing Hill to score. The Bucs took game two 6-1, and won the series over UConn. Next step; Series sweep on Sunday.
Game Three; Series Sweep Fell Short
Game Three on Sunday, this one for the series sweep. First Pitch was at 11:05 am. To start the finale, Ferguson homered out to right giving The Bucs a solid start. Additionally in the second, Little homered to right field giving more cushion to ETSU’s lead. Runs were kept at bay by both teams until the 6th, when UConn’s Jackson Marshall hit a grand slam, allowing the Huskies their first lead of the weekend, 4-2. ETSU responded in the 7th, with a single from Galusky sending Melendez home. UConn ended taking the win, and ETSU took the series 2-1.
