Tar Heels Win Wild Series At Clemson
The Tar Heels won yet another chaotic series this weekend. The Diamond Heels rattled off back-to-back wins to take the series 2-1 over the Tigers. This came off of a nice win at home over Charlotte earlier in the week. This was the first time since 2012 that the Diamond Heels have won at Clemson.
Game One
Jason Decaro got back to his usual game one spot in the rotation. Decaro went four and a third innings, giving up four runs on 7 hits. This one got off to a relatively quiet start with neither team scoring in the first two frames. The Heels and Tigers traded a run apiece in the third inning, and then the Tigers broke it open. Clemson had four runs in the fifth, two in the sixth, and two in the seventh. The Tar Heels rallied with three runs in the eighth and ninth, but it was not enough. Decaro picked up his second overall loss on the season.
Game Two
This one was an absolute treat. There is something about this Diamond Heels team and playing in close and crazy games. The Tar Heels pitched an absolute gem Saturday night. Ryan Lynch got the start and had allowed only three runs on five hits in five innings. Walker Mcduffie was first out of the pen with three innings, giving up only one run. And then, freshman phenom Caden Glauber slammed the door shut. Glauber recorded six scoreless innings with six strikeouts and only three walks. The Heels take this one 6-4 to force a rubber match on Sunday. Glauber moves to 4-0 overall this season with a 1.71 ERA.
Game Three
Folger Boaz got the start for game three, and the Heels bats got going early. Carolina drove in two runs in the first did not look back. The Tar Heels put up five runs in the fourth, and two in the fifth. The Heels would add one run apiece in the sixth, seventh, and eighth. Boaz had five strikeouts in five innings of work, allowing three runs. Matthijs got Roughed up in only two thirds of an inning, giving up two runs. Walker Mcduffie and Tom Chmielewski closed it out with three and a third scoreless innings to win the series.

Tar Heels Moving Forward
The Diamond Heels faced the UNCW Seahawks tonight in a 14-5 victory at the Bosh. After that, the #2 ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets come to Chapel Hill. This will be by far one of the biggest regular season series at Boshamer Stadium in some time. A very robust crowd is expected for all three games.
This series is a must-win for the Heels if they want a shot at the #1 seed in the ACC tournament. A sweep would put UNC in sole possession of first place in the ACC standings. As it sits now, the Diamond Heels are two games back from the Yellow Jackets. Even just a series win would really heat up the race at the top.
