GCU delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Wednesday night, pulling away early and defeating UNLV 80–67. The Lopes wasted no time asserting control, building a commanding 42–24 halftime lead behind efficient offense and swarming defense.

GCU shot 53% from the field for the game and connected on 7-of-15 (47%) from three-point range, carving up the Rebels with crisp ball movement and balanced scoring. The early cushion allowed the Lopes to dictate tempo and avoid any real late-game pressure.

Four in Double Figures for GCU

Jaden Henley led all scorers with 28 points, attacking the rim with confidence and knocking down perimeter shots when UNLV tried to adjust defensively. He was the catalyst offensively from the opening tip.

Brian Moore Jr. added 17 points, providing steady shot-making and spacing that stretched the Rebels’ defense. Makaih Williams also poured in 11, continuing his consistent offensive production and helping GCU maintain scoring balance throughout both halves.

Nana Owusu-Anane finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, recording a double-double and anchoring the interior. His presence on the glass helped GCU secure a 41–27 rebounding advantage and limited second-chance opportunities for UNLV.

With four players in double figures, the Lopes’ offensive versatility proved difficult to contain.

Defensive Edge and Bench Impact for GCU

UNLV shot just 40% from the floor and 7-of-17 (41%) from three-point range. While the Rebels found more rhythm in the second half — scoring 43 points after the break — the early deficit was too much to overcome.

GCU’s bench played a pivotal role in sustaining momentum, while they didn’t score much, only Dennis Evans contributed in the points column with 4. The depth and energy off the bench kept the pressure on and prevented any significant Rebel run.

Closing the Door

Though turnovers were fairly even (GCU 13, UNLV 8), efficiency told the story. The Lopes consistently generated quality looks and converted at a high clip, while forcing UNLV into contested shots throughout the night.

In total, it was a composed, wire-to-wire performance from Grand Canyon — powered by defensive discipline, rebounding strength, and four double-figure scorers — as the Lopes secured a convincing 80–67 victory.
