These AEW Collision results are from the stop in San Diego, California, this week. The new AEW Trio’s Champions had their first title defense, FTR gave a qualifier match, and so much more, in this complete recap.
Tag Team Action
The opening match was AEW Trio’s Champions Jet Set Rodeo (“Hangman” Adam Page, “The Jet” Kevin Knight, and “Speedball” Mike Bailey) defending those titles against The Demand (Ricochet and Gates of Agony). For fans of high-flying athleticism, this match hit the spot. Ricochet was distracted by “Jungle” Jack Perry, which was the team’s ultimate demise. Page hit his Buckshot Lariat for the win.
The Young Bucks versus Lee Johnson and Blake Christian was next. This was another high-flying spectacle. It was without striking, but the pace and reversals were next level. The Bucks win as they get closer to their upcoming title shot.
Collision Results – Claudio Castagnoli Vs. Josh Alexander
Josh Alexander versus Claudio Castagnoli was the next contest, and they certainly made up for the lack of physicality on the card thus far. Alexander was working on Castignoli’s knee, adding to the story of the match itself. The injured fought through the pain with some other-worldly strength before picking up the win.
Pudding Cups
“The Megasus” Megan Bayne had a standby match with Becca. Squash match is more like it – just a time filler.
Julia Hart versus Thunder Rosa was the main event. After years of training, one would think Hart would learn how to make something look realistic, but she’s extremely soft. Rosa won the match.
More Tag Action
The Don Callis Family and Death Riders faced off in trio’s action. Wheeler Yuta wrestling in a hat after having his head shaved was a nice touch. Konosuke Taskeshita pinned Yuta for the victory. Jon Moxley didn’t like that, and laid Takeshita lifeless to end the segment.
The Rascals had an eliminator match against AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR. If successful, they’d get another match, but for the title. Both teams laid down realistic striking and intensity, a good note for a relatively soft card. The old-school approach of the champions paired well with the high-flying team, leading to great reversals and false finishes. The Young Bucks caused a distraction, allowing The Rascals to win and gain that title shot.
FTR didn’t like that. They attacked the Bucks, even attacking their family members in the crowd.
