HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men’s golf team will be on the course for the first time in 2026 after a fall season in which the program saw its first tournament win under HPU Head Coach Logan Davis at the Red Flash Invitational.
The Panthers head to Hilton Head on February 16-17 to compete in the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate. One week later, the team heads to San Antonio, Texas, for the Military City Collegiate. High Point has a month off from competing before the Austin Peay Intercollegiate from March 22-24 in Dickson, Tenn.
The final tournament before the Big South Conference Championship will be held in Spartanburg, S.C., at the Wofford Intercollegiate on April 12-14. The Conference Championship will be played at Fripp Island Golf Resort from April 26-29.
This will be the first spring season where Davis has a fall season under his belt as the head coach at High Point, but preparation has not changed.
“I think we just have to stick to the process and trust our process,” Davis said. “We’ve seen some success with it and trying to move forward with it, getting each person individually better. I’ve got a plan for that, and as long as they stick to that process, we’ll come out on top.”
A few goals come to mind for Davis for the upcoming spring season: all three seniors graduating and bringing home more titles, one of which is the Big South Conference.
“The Red Flash was just the start,” Davis said. “I think we have a good opportunity to win two or three, plus the Big South Championship this semester.”
To get the tournament win at the Red Flash Invitational in October, it was having all five golfers click at the same time. Individually, Tully Super came out as a medalist, shooting seven-under par.
Playing at a consistent level all starts with each player’s mentality.
“It’s all mindset and how you’re feeling when you wake up,” Davis said. “‘How were my practice sessions the week before?’ Trusting the process and trusting that your preparation was to the fullest extent.”
Preparation has been different for the Panthers as multiple winter storms have altered the team’s ability to practice outdoors. However, a the golf simulation room on campus was renovated, which has allowed the team to practice in an indoor setting, by emulating what it may be out on a course.
The upgrade allows the Panthers to simulate putting drills and speed training drills. The simulator can track the likes of club path and carry distances. Although preparation may have been different, Davis is looking forward to the season as the Military City Intercollegiate is the tournament that comes to mind first.
“I think our trip to San Antonio because, for one, the entire team has never been to Texas, so they’re looking forward to that trip,” Davis said. “But I think they’re going to be surprised at how hilly it is.”
In the eyes of Davis, the tournament, hosted by the UTSA, will be out of the comfort zone for his golfers. He thinks this is where he needs to push them to get into their comfort zone more.
Two golfers that standout to Davis the most are senior Burch Harrison and redshirt senior Carter Pitcairn, as they have both been playing the most consistently as of late and in the fall. Super is also pushing Harrison and Pitcairn for one of the two top spots.
“Everybody’s gotten better throughout the year here, and it’s good to see because everybody’s pushing everybody to get into the lineup,” Davis said.
Davis cannot wait to get back on the road. He is looking forward to the 2026 spring campaign, seeing what his golfers can do, and how much they want to push themselves.
