Deacs Get Iced Out in Wintery Showdown
The Deacs only held the lead for 1% of the game as they fell 96-78 to the NC State Wolfpack Saturday afternoon. Nate Calmese did not play in this contest. Only two players scored in double figures for the Demon Deacons. Juke Harris had a standout Iron Man performance, playing every minute of the game. The sheer lack of offense just wasn’t enough for Wake Forest to overcome, and the defense didn’t help things.

Only Juke Harris and Omaha Biliew score in double digits against NC State. Harris had 31 points on 11-25 shooting, including 3-10 from three. Harris also had 7 rebounds, an assist, and 2 steals. Omaha Biliew had 12 points on 4-6 from the field and 2-3 from beyond the arc. Biliew also had 4 rebounds and was a perfect 2-2 from the free throw line. Myles Colvin had 9 points thanks to a perfect game from the line. Colvin also had 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals.
As a team, the 3 pointer haunted the Deacs against the Wolfpack. The Demon Deacons only shot 35% from beyond the arc, while allowing the Pack to shoot 57% percent from three. The total inability to guard the three today is what sunk the Deacs. you can give up those kinds of numbers and expect to have a realistic chance of winning. NC State also shot 54% from the field and 78% from the free throw line.
This loss came with more than a few consequences for the Demon Deacons. First, this loss meant that the NC State Wolfpack have swept the season series against Wake Forest. Second, and arguably worse, Wake Forest is now guaranteed to finish last in the 2026 Tobacco Road Cup. Worst of all, the Deacs have missed out on yet another high quad opportunity. With only a few remaining on the schedule, every opportunity must be taken advantage of.
