2026 WWE Royal Rumble
WWE Royal Rumble 2026 is already upon us. One of WWE’s staple events takes place this Saturday, January 31, 2026, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Along with the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches, careers and championships are on the line in the other two.
Men’s Royal Rumble Match
As of Friday morning, they have confirmed Cody Rhodes, Jacob Fatu, Gunther, Jey Uso, Rey Mysterio, Dragon Lee, Penta, Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, Austin Theory, and Oba Femi. There are already plenty of deserving names in that list, but WWE may be pulling the wool over the eyes of the WWE Universe.
WWE has gone out of its way to ensure both the audience and Finn Balor know that there is no room for him in the rumble. That said, they continue to feature him in the title picture. There’s also been increased foreshadowing of Balor’s exit from Judgement Day.
Look for WWE to find an opening for him. It could be as vague as working a random injury to somebody, or they could go as deep as to have someone in Judgement Day attacked by a mystery assailant. It’s time for “The Demon.”
Women’s Royal Rumble Match
As of Friday morning, they have confirmed Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Bayley, Lyra Valkyria, Liv Morgan, Roxanne Perez, Raquel Rodriguez, Asuka, Jordynne Grace, Becky Lynch, Chelsea Green, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Giulia, and Maxxine Dupri. Thinking about the two current women’s champions, it’s far less likely they’d plan a main event around Jade Cargill. She still looks green out there, and the title is more of a tool to prop up her status than something she went and earned.
Stephanie Vaquer, however, has plenty of plausible opponents. There’s a resurgence of power and dominance placed in Rodriguez. She’s often around the title picture, but never genuinely in it. Lately, she’s been getting the better of the champ, even ending segments with her music hitting the speakers.
AJ Styles Vs. Gunther
AJ Styles will put his career on the line against “The Ring General” Gunther. This dream match is difficult to predict. Styles previously mentioned he would retire in 2026, and more recently added that he’d like to go on a John Cena-like tour to end his career. Gunther adds to the equation as well. Recently retiring Goldberg and John Cena, booking him to lose this moniker would be strange.
Gunther isn’t taking a clean loss here, and without being in the Royal Rumble, one has to foresee his road to WrestleMania. It also doesn’t feel like a big enough build-up to warrant the abrupt retirement. Look for the match to get thrown out, and a rematch down the road; perhaps WrestleMania is a better place to retire.
Undisputed WWE Championship – Drew McIntyre (c) Vs. Sami Zayn
Sami Zayn won this opportunity with home-field advantage in Montreal. Now, via his ancestry, he has a home-field advantage of sorts in Saudi Arabia. It feels like the results of these Saudi shows are always up for sale, and they certainly have a wallet large enough. It will come down to that. It’s typically best to book a babyface chasing a heel champion into WrestleMania. The official prediction is going with the logical booking for WrestleMania – McIntyre retains.
In Conclusion
Fans eagerly await the surprise entrants for both rumbles, while Styles’ career may genuinely be “in jeopardy.” What will the next step on the path to WrestleMania look like?
