0 The Trojans held Tusculum (1-13, 1-7 SAC) to their lowest scoring game of the season in a statement 81-38 win on Saturday afternoon. Anderson moves to 6-8 overall and 2-6 in the SAC with the win.
“I thought we did a great job today continuing what we started Wednesday,” head coach Jonathon Barbaree said. “We got out early with great ball pressure and allowed that to jumpstart our offense. Even though have been hit with the injury bug of late we’ve continued to grind and build.”
The Trojans went on a tear in the first quarter, winning it 25-8 after going on a 19-5 run.
The Pioneers were held to just one point through the first six minutes of the second quarter, as the Trojans won it 21-9.
The Pioneers had their highest scoring ten minutes in the third quarter with 13 points but the Trojans were still up by a comfortable margin at 65-30. The Trojans cruised through the final quarter to earn the 81-38 win.
It was the second-highest scoring game of the season for the Trojans who shot 43.7 percent from the field, 29.4 percent from deep and 87.5 percent from the line. They had 49 points off of turnovers after forcing 38 turnovers from the Pioneers. The Trojans gave away just 12 turnovers, the fewest they have this season.
Graduate student Ciara Harris (Alexandria, Va.) led the offense with 19 points on 6-16 shooting and was a perfect 6-6 from the line. She added a team-high seven rebounds and four steals.
Freshman Ashley Hill (Covington, Ga.) dropped 18 points on efficient 8-12 shooting with three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Junior Kyla Cain (Atlanta, Ga.) had eight points and five rebounds.
Sophomore transfer Jaida Brooks (Phoenix, Ariz.) and senior Ashlyn Sheridan (Knoxville, Tenn.) added seven points each while Sheridan picked up four rebounds and four steals.
The Trojans finish out their four-game homestand on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 5:30 p.m. when they host Catawba College.
“We look forward to having students back on campus and hope to see a huge crowd on Wednesday,” Barbaree said.
