SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Aug. 24, 2025) – Richmond freshman Morgane Zinn scored three minutes into the contest—the lone goal of the match—lifting the Spiders to a 1-0 victory over Wofford in nonconference women’s soccer at Snyder Field. Freshman Julia Lishia provided the assist, her first collegiate point, while sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Navola notched her 100th career save for the Terriers in a strong defensive effort.
Wofford Goalie Achieves Milestone with 100th Career Save
Navola turned aside one shot during the match, bringing her season total to 13 saves and making her the second active SoCon goalkeeper to reach 100 career stops. Her steady presence in net limited Richmond’s opportunities after the early breakthrough.
Early Goal Gives Richmond the Edge
Zinn capitalized on a precise early cross from Lishia to beat the Wofford defense and record her first collegiate goal. Richmond held a narrow 3–2 shot advantage at halftime.
By the end of the match, the Spiders had generated 8 shots (2 on goal) compared to Wofford’s 6 (1 on target), and also held a 4–2 edge in corner kicks.
Wofford Players Show Key Contributions in This Game
Navola’s milestone was the highlight for the Terriers, but Wofford also created late pressure on the attacking end. The Terriers’ lone shot on goal came during a strong second-half push, as the offense worked through the midfield to generate opportunities and keep Richmond on its heels.
Terriers Press Late, But Can’t Find Equalizer
Wofford increased its urgency after halftime, forcing Richmond goalkeeper Veronica Rrapi into a key stop to preserve the lead. The Terriers’ defensive unit, anchored by Navola, kept the margin tight and allowed the team to stay within striking distance until the final whistle.
Wofford Now Prepares for SoCon Play
With the loss, Wofford (0-4-0) continues its nonconference schedule before turning to Southern Conference play. Richmond (3-1-0) captured its first road win while posting its third shutout of the year.
Navola’s 100th save provided a bright moment for the Terriers, underscoring her role as a cornerstone of the defense as Wofford looks to carry its effort and resilience into league play.
