Blake Christian took on Kenny Omega, who has an unnecessary amount of pyro, to open up AEW Dynamite. For two high-flyers, it was interesting to see them show off their mat-based chain wrestling. It led to a high-pace finish, but Kenny Omega is your obvious winner. After the match, Mike Bailey went to the ring to promote the upcoming triple-threat match for the International Championship with Ricochet at Dynasty.
They Hurt People On Dynamite
The next segment featured MJF, who was to answer MVP’s offer to join The Hurt Syndicate. After MVP came to the ring, MJF actually accepted the invitation, but it was interrupted by the rest of The Hurt Syndicate. Bobby Lashley went and tore up this physical card invitation, seemingly not wanting him to join, so MJF left.
Big Bill and Bryan Keith came to the top of the entrance ramp with The Hurt Syndicate. After some shots were fired both ways, Bill and Keith challenged them for their tag team championship. Their reply, “Try winning a match first.”
The Don Callis Family On AEW Dynamite
Brody King versus Kyle Fletcher was next. King was dominant, beating Fletcher senseless for an extended period. Fletcher took a lot of damage, but kept ticking, with plenty of athletic reversals. Don Callis and Mark Davis became an issue at ringside, causing Brody to lose the match in which he was the dominant one. Powerhouse Hobbs ran to the ring, and the two fought off The Don Callis Family.
Powerhouse Hobbs versus Mark Davis was the next scheduled match. This was a short match with not much to mention, both men getting a few power moves in, before Hobbs got win.
World Heavyweight Championship
Swerve Strickland called out Jon Moxley for the next segment. Swerve delivered a shallow promo, to say he’s coming for the title. Moxley spoke for far too long, and neither of them got violent. Outside of Willow Nightingale and Marina Shafir getting in a brawl at ringside, it was a long, uneventful segment.
Top Flight had a squash match against two unknowns that were already in the ring. The match just seemed a waste. Outside of arguing with Leo Rush, another boring segment.
Konosuke Takeshita versus Mark Briscoe was the next one. Both men laid it in thick, but the match lacked good reversals and false finishes. Otherwise, they beat up on each other aggressively. Takeshita pulled out the victory.
AEW Dynamite Main Event
Penelope Ford and Megan Bayne took on Thunder Rosa and Toni Storm in tag team action for the main event. This match was just to set up the match between Storm and Bayne at Dynasty, with Bayne pinning the champ in a tag match.
