Blue Hose Come Up Short Against The Gamecocks

One last tune up game for both of these teams as they get ready for conference play. PC is coming off of a tough loss against the Manhattan Jaspers as the fell short 86-81. South Carolina is fresh off of a big win against their rival Clemson 91-88 and riding a 6-game winning streak. However, this was not going to be an easy game for South Carolina as PC guard Korey Mincy is riding a hot streak himself and averaging 16 ppg.
The first half start off well for South Carolina as Myles Stute comes out with a pair of 3 point buckets which put the gamecocks up 13-12. However, the Korey Mincy show arrived. The Blue Hose would go on a 13-2 run and would take a 25-15 lead as Mincy would score 9 pts during that run. He would make tons of circus like shots that would just make the announcers and spectators just stop and say “wow”. The gamecocks would gain a little momentum when Nick Pringle gets the crowd back into it with an alley-oop from Jamari Thomas that would cut the lead to 25-20. However, Korey Mincy would not be denied as he would come down with another 3 point shot as the Blue Hose would take 32-24 lead into halftime. Mincy would lead all scorers with 12 points going into the half.
The 2nd half would start out much of the same. Mincy would come right out with a wide open lay up and another 3 point shot as the Blue Hose would open up the lead to an 8 point lead. Colin Murray Boyles who had been silent for much of the first half would then make a pair of baskets and get to the line as the Gamecocks would gain some momentum and cut the lead back to 4. PC would continue to shut down every run as Mincy and Caleb Scott would make a pair of dunks and PC would open the lead back up to 9 pts 45-36. With 8 minutes left both Caleb Scott and Korey Mincy would have to leave the game with 4 fouls and this would be the opening South Carolina would need as Nick Pringle and Murray-Boyles would make their presence felt in the paint and would tie the game up at 45 with both leading scorers for PC on the bench.Mincy and Scott would then re enter the game but they were not able to be nearly as effective and the defense of South Carolina would turn to be too much as the gamecocks would pull away and would win the game 69-59
This was a game where PC actually lead through most of the game. Korey Mincy leaving the floor would turn out to be the down fall and South Carolina would take advantage. Mincy would lead all scorers with 26 points but would only have 1 point after leaving the bench. Murray Boyles would lead the Gamecocks with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams open up conference play next with South Carolina opening up against number 17 Miss St and PC will open up at home against Longwood at 2 pm on Thursday.
