WWE Survivor Series: War Games 4/5 Stars
Overall this was a great PLE. A few people shined bright, while others seemed to mail it in.
Women’s War Games Match 3.75/5 Stars
Storytelling 5/5 Stars
This match had plenty of backstory, with all the women seemingly having intertwined storylines, leading to tons of opportunity for moments throughout the match. Not to mention playing out the story that is War Games.
Wrestling & Flow 3/5 Stars
It wasn’t terrible, but certainly started slow and soft. The back-and-forth also left a little to be desired. Some women shine brighter than others, such as Iyo Sky and Tiffany Stratton. Don’t recall falling for any false finishes.
Athleticism 4/5 Stars
I had to give this 4 stars, with the showing from a few of the women. Tiffany and Iyo off the top of the cage, for example.
Intensity 3/5 Stars
With the slow start to this match, and the majority of the exchanges appearing soft, I couldn’t go above 3 stars. How many of them do you really think left it all out there?
Shinsuke Nakamora vs LA Knight – WWE United States Championship 3/5 Stars
Storytelling 2/5 Stars
With the only real story being the recent return and repacking of Shinsuke, there wasn’t much else for story. He didn’t use the mist that he used on TV, and the match itself didn’t really tell a story, with no notable false finishes.
Wrestling & Flow 3/5 Stars
There was a little back-and-forth, but this fell short of a championship match. It also felt a little short, with Shinsuke appearing to be booked very strong on purpose, or else LA Knight had an off night.
Athleticism 3/5 Stars
Shinsuke showed some agility and they had some cool spots, but nothing to blow you away.
Intensity 3/5 Stars
Shinsuke seemed to bring some intensity, trying to put over the repackaged gimmick. LA Knight seemed to be bummed from start, lacklustre on this night.
Sheamus vs Bron Breakker vs Ludwig Kaiser – WWE Intercontinental Championship 4.5/5 Stars
Storytelling 5/5 Stars
These three have been brawling backstage and interrupting each other’s matches for weeks leading up. The match itself was also a good story, with plenty of believable false finishes.
Wrestling & Flow 4/5 Stars
These guys kept up a great pace while keeping up the violence. The reversals were all very smooth and they did a good job of the triple-threat.
Athleticism 4/5 Stars
Perhaps not in the high-flying way, but the pace and stiffness these guys maintained, while doing smooth reversals combined with hardcore spots, all 3 men are great athletes.
Intensity 4.5/5 Stars
All three guys wanted to leave it all out there, and brought the best out of each other.
Gunther vs Damian Priest – WWE World Heavyweight Championship 4.25/5 Stars
Storytelling 4/5 Stars
These two clearly go back to when Priest originally dropped the title to Gunther. Gunther had been on a heel run of a lifetime, but lately on TV, Priest was getting the better of the exchanges. It fell a little short in Priest’s promos, which felt repepative. The match itself was a good story as well, numerous false finishes, Gunther coming back in the match, working an injury on Priest. Added story of Finn Balor being involved on the finish, to cost his former friend the match.
Wrestling & Flow 4.5/5 Stars
Both clearly powerful, but also working in a unique moveset. Included great mat-work, striking, submissions, and reversals.
Athleticism 4/5 Stars
Great strength from both, but also the pace and smooth reversals from men of their size is impressive.
Intensity 4/5 Stars
These two certainly went hard, I’ve just seen them both put a tad more into the match.
Men’s War Games Match 4/5 Stars
Storytelling 5/5 Stars
How can this not be 5 stars? This is the longest running storyline leading into it, family vs family, Bloodline vs Bloodline. They also did a great job telling a story during the match. For example, The Bloodline beating everyone on Roman’s team before he had to come face them 5-on-1. CM Punk and Roman also have an evolving storyline.
Wrestling & Flow 3.5/5 Stars
The match certainly had a great flow, and everybody looked great. This one was just more about the story then the wrestling, which was adequate.
Athleticism 3.5/5 Stars
Everyone looked fine in this match, but there wasn’t anything worth reporting back either. The Uso’s and Bronson Reed perhaps leading in this category for this match.
Intensity 4/5 Stars
It was certainly intense, just not face melting intense.
