The SoCon this past week had allot of exciting games and the theme this week could be the same. This week’s slates of games will bring more of a clear picture on who will be playoff bound and who out right wins the league as Mercer has already claimed a share of the title last week. Let’s take a look at this week’s games with who we feel wins and leads the conference into the post season.

Furman at ETSU 12pm
The Paladins travel up to the Bucs as a team in need of a quality game, and they face a ETSU team still in the hunt for a playoff berth. ETSU has been playing really well of late and have surprised everyone with their run in the league this year. ETSU gets the win over the Paladins in a game where Furman puts in a much better effort with so much young talent in what many see as a rebuilding year. ETSU 31 Furman 17

The Catamounts of Western Carolina welcome in the VMI Keydets to a home game where they need this win to stay in contention for a playoff spot. VMI is looking for a complete game by their team, as they have yet to put together four quarters of football at the level their coach wants. They will have a tough task against Western this week and will fall short as Western on Senior Day will be out for revenge of its ETSU loss. WCU 41 VMI 10

Samford takes a trip to the UT Chattanooga home field and is going to be in for a true welcoming party. The Mocs want to stay in the Top 25 FCS rankings and also get a better spot in the playoffs. Samford is out to save their season and increase the win column that has not given them the fruits of their labor. Samford has been a spoiler this year so the Mocs cannot take them lightly even if it is a home game. The Mocs take care of business at home and move on to a better position in the playoffs coming soon. Samford 13 UT Chatt 27

The Citadel heads upstate to face the Wofford Terriers who are coming off a great win against Furman last week and want to end the season on a high note. The Citadel has been able to get a few surprising wins this year but have struggled also in games. This game will be a Wofford score fest in the later half as Citadel always gives a great first half performance but wears down in the later quarters. The Citadel 10 Wofford 31

Mercer the current Co Champions of the Southern Conference have a non-conference game with SEC powerhouse and ranked foe Alabama this week. Nobody will have Mercer in this game winning against Alabama, but I think they will give a decent showing in front of a TV audience full of eyes on the SoCon top team. Things will have to fall right, and Mercer will have to play four mistake free quarters along with scoring on every position. Mercer 17 Alabama 38
