The Wildcats welcomed in-state Northern Kentucky to Historic Memorial Coliseum and had a tough shooting night for new head coach Kenny Brooks and crew. After shooting over 52% in their opener on Monday night, the Cats managed only 30-69 for 43.4% against the Norse. To make matters worse, they only shot 5-25 for 20% from behind the three-point line.
Thankfully a massive effort of using their height advantage and rebounding well with 52 total rebounds including 17 offensive rebounds and the second most blocked shots ever helped overcome the poor shooting. Amelia Hassett led the way on the glass with 16 rebounds, she also added five points and three blocks. Clara Silva came off the bench to lead the Cats in scoring with 18 points.

The sophomore F/C Clara Strack continues to show her importance to this team. She had 15 points, 13 rebounds, eight assist, and four blocked shots on the night. Just two assist shy of a triple double. The point guard leader Georgia Amoore who is 5’6” if she’s lucky also had a brilliant night with 13 points, five rebounds, eight assists, and amazingly three blocks of her own.
Kentucky led from early on and continued to build the lead throughout the night with utilizing their dominating size against the Norse. They held them to under 30% shooting for the night and came away with the 70-41 victory.
