They will face the South Carolina Upstate Spartans who is coming off of a WNIT appearance last season. The Spartans finished 2nd in the Big South Conference last season.

Players to Watch
Kentucky: The Wildcat new head coach Kenny Brooks brought graduate transfer guard Georgia Amoore from Virginia Tech with him. She is a Preseason First Team All-SEC selection in her first season in the league. A three-outlet All-American selection in 2023-24, Amoore finds herself on the Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year and Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Watch Lists entering the 2024-25 season.
Returnees’ junior guards Saniah Tyler and Cassidy Rowe look to provide in the rotation. 6’5 sophomore Clara Strack also transfers over from the Hokies and looks to make an immediate impact. Signees 6’3” F Junior College transfer Amelia Hassett, freshman 6’7” C Clara Sliva and freshman 6’2” G Lexi Blue each will be big factors. As 6’4” junior F Teonni Key looks to rebuild herself after injuries while at North Carolina. And Senior guard Dazia Lawrence from Charlotte strives to continue her scoring abilities in the SEC.

USC Upstate: Returning for her third season, senior forward Rebekah Gordan is Upstate’s leading returning scorer from last season’s WNIT team. Over an average of 24.3 minutes per game, she averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest as she played in all 32 games, making 31 starts. The Spartans also have two other returning starters from last season. junior guard Jeni Levine (8.5 ppg) and senior forward AC Markham (5.8 ppg).
