Gibbs Stadium will be the site of today’s matchup with the Wofford Terriers (3-4, 1-3 SoCon) taking on the ETSU Buccaneers (4-3, 2-1 SoCon) as both teams are saving their season for different reasons. Wofford is hoping to keep itself out of the bottom of the Southern Conference, and ETSU is trying to stay in the sites of the FCS playoffs.

Wofford is lead on offense by 5th SR. Ryan Ingram #12 who has 75-304 yards with 4 (TD), and QB Pauly Seeley 55-119 yards with (3 TD). They will be doing their best to get the running game started fast and wear down the Bucs defense who is led by LB William McRainey who has 46 tackles on the season. ETSU will be putting its trust in RB Bryson Irby who has run this year for 515 yards and 5 TDs on the season. The defense for the Terriers will be hoping ILB Jalen Marshall who has 58 tackles can keep the offense under control.

ETSU gets the ball first and gets the ball to the 46-yard line and tries a trick play on the punt, but the WR drops the ball, and Wofford takes over at the 46 of ETSU. Wofford is not able to move the ball against the strong ESTU defense and will kick the ball away to the 1-yard line and ETSU will start deep in the end zone area.

Wofford is able to hold strong against the ETSU Bucs as a reverse goes wrong and ends up backwards. Then the next play Wofford intercepts the Bucs QB at the 30-yard line and Wofford is now first and ten. The first quarter is in the books and the score is 0-0 as both teams have been able to get in the red zone, though the Bucs have come close but missed the field goal.

End of the first quarter … Wofford 0, ETSU 0. Terriers have the ball.

Wofford is unable to get the first down and will punt away to the Bucs who will get the ball 25-yard line and start their hopeful run to get a score against a Wofford defense that has been playing strong all game so far.
Wofford is able to intercept ETSU and returns it to the Bucs 28-yard line. Wofford is unable to make the field goal and ETSU takes the ball back. Both teams are struggling getting a score, so now the Bucs have a chance to make a run at it. ETSU QB makes a crazy pass for a first down and now ETSU is at the 43-yard line. The Bucs make another huge pass down to the Terriers 28-yard line, moving the ball well in the air. The Buc’s get a field goal and its final 3-0 ETSU now on top with 2 minutes left in the half.

Wofford has to punt, and the Bucs take over at the 44-yard line with 1:33 left in the half. ETSU starts a march down the field and is at the 32-yard line and is marching into field goal range. it is third down and the Bucs will attempt a field goal which is blocked, and we go into halftime with Wofford holding strong against the Bucs offense down 3-0.

The halftime stats are Rushing ETSU 60 yards and Wofford 34, Passing ETSU 158 and Wofford 6. ETSU had the ball for 20:15 while Wofford had it for 9:45 minutes. Wofford starts off with the ball first and starts making a good march down the field, but they fumble on the punt and ETSU picks it up and runs it in for a touchdown. The score is now 10-0 Bucs in front of the Terriers.

Wofford takes the ball and marches down the field and scores a huge touchdown on the Bucs and its 10-7 with 7:09 left in the third quarter. The Bucs get the ball back and begin a great march down the field as Wofford is showing signs of tiredness. ETSU which started deep in their end of the field is now at the Wofford 22-yard line. The next play the QB runs it in for a touchdown and it is 17-7 ETSU ahead of the Wofford Terriers with 3:38 left in the third.

Wofford is forced to punt when they cant move the ball against the Bucs defense and ETSU takes over at its own 40-yard line. The Bucs get a first down and are already on Wofford’s side of the field at the 49-yard line. Jaylen King scores yet another touchdown as we start the fourth quarter and its 24-7 with 13 minutes left in the game.

ETSU marches down the field but Wofford holds on fourth down and takes over and starts its march down the field and is on the ETSU 39-yard line of the Bucs. The Terriers have less than 3 minutes left in the game to get a score to get the score closer. Wofford takes it to the 32-yard line but is unable to get a first down so with 2 minutes remaining ETSU is going to run out this clock and when this game 24-7 over a gutsy Wofford team who played better than what the score shows.
